W.A.S. Hurricane Harvey Assistance
The purpose of this page is to get donations that the Ween Fan Family can send to help those in need in the Houston and surrounding areas from Hurricane Harvey.
Deaner suggested we do something like this and its a GREAT idea. We haven't decided who or where this will go to but we can figure that out as we go. We posted a poll on the Ween Appreciation Society Facebook page to vote for where the funds will head. It appears the top vote is to send the money to the 3 charities that receive the most votes. We will also be slicing off 10% of the donations to the animal shelter/rescue that receives the most votes. PLEASE GO VOTE!
If everyone in WAS donates $20 we will get almost half a million!

UPDATE (9.11.17): WE HAVE SET THE FINAL DATE FOR DONATIONS--MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 18TH, 2017. ALL MONEY WILL BE SENT TO THE CHARITIES OF CHOICE ON THAT DATE (The charity will be chosen per the outcomes of the poll posted on the Ween Appreciation Society page on Facebook).
UPDATE (9.13.17): In order for GoFundMe to release the funds to me so we can then donate them to our charities of choice, they've asked I answer some specific questions and then email them when I posted these answers on our campaigns decription. So:
1. Who you are and where you’re from: I am Andrew Winston Roether from Henderson, Nevada.
2. Your relationship or contact to the parties you’re raising funds for: I am a member of the Ween Appreciation Society (WAS) group on Facebook, which is the where the idea for this fundraiser was hatched. Dean Ween, guitar god, founding member of Ween, and all around good dude asked that someone start a fundraising effort on behalf of Ween and their fans, so here we are. I represent ALL Ween fans, far and wide, who want to provide assistance to our brothers and sisters (and pets) during this troubling time. Ween, as you should all know, is the world’s greatest band and they hail from New Hope, PA.
3. How the funds will be spent: We put a poll up on the WAS Facebook page to take a vote as to which charities should receive our Hurricane Harvey relief funds. Based on the outcome of the poll the funds will be distributed as such: 30% to the Houston Food Bank, 30% to the JJ Watt Foundation, 30% to Team Rubicon’s Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, and 10% to the Houston Humane Society.
4. Your withdrawal plan to get the funds from the campaign to the ultimate beneficiaries: The plan is simple. I will withdraw the money from GoFundMe and the minute it comes into my account I will route it directly to the charities (listed in #3 above) through their respective online donation portals. I will post receipts of each charitable donations to the WAS group page on Facebook to show that the money made it to its proper home.
