WALLS: A Play for Palestine  is a new play written by Summer Ghasan Awad and directed by David Ratliff. The play describes the conflict between a second-generation immigrant and her Palestinian father as she comes to terms with the troubled history of her heritage. WALLS was a finalist for the Henley Rose Playwright Competition for Women ( www.henleyrose.com).

WALLS  premiered with great success at the Clarence Brown LAB Theatre on January 14-17, 2016. Since the premiere, WALLS  has been accepted to The New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC), the largest multi-arts festival in North America. Thousands of shows are submitted to FringeNYC each year, and about 200 are selected.  This year's festival, the 20th anniversary of FringeNYC, will take place August 12-28, 2016. There are a great number of costs associated with participating.

Performing at FringeNYC is a great honor (it is technically considered Off Off Broadway), and it presents a great opportunity for a new play to get noticed by critics and potential collaborators. A donation to this effort will allow more people to see WALLS and put a human face to the Palestinian issue. Summer, David, and the entire cast and crew of WALLS thank you in advance for your generosity.

Feedback from the premiere:

"A very impressive play! We are proud of what you did and what you stand for."

"This production blew me (and my husband and daughter, herself a former actress) totally away. It was a powerful experience, rich in history and cultural references and personal detail. BRAVO!!!!"

"I am speechless. "Walls" is beautiful and impactful. The play was so well written. You should be very proud. Bravo."

"Thanks Summer, outstanding play!
Three stories and three characters wonderfully weaved together, great acting. The sense of not-belonging here, and longing for an identity lost or never found, talks to so many of us, Palestinians and not. As probably many others, I cried during your play, for the beauty and the complexity of the characters, and for Palestine.
Waiting for other works like this!"
