Uranium Council minutes F.o.I.

It's November 2016 and in South Australia, the Labor state government is considering advancing the recommendations of the Nuclear Fuel Cycle Royal Commission which concluded in May. The recommendations include numerous actions which if taken, are likely to improve business prospects for uranium and nuclear industries in Australia and in some instances, worldwide.

As an independent public interest researcher and documentary filmmaker, I am seeking to understand how the Royal Commission and follow-up activities in South Australia fit in a national and international context. The interests of Australia's uranium mining sector are recorded in the minutes of meetings of a Federal advisory body known as the Uranium Council.

At present, these minutes are not publicly available. As such, I have lodged a request under the Freedom of Information Act, seeking the release of minutes of all of the Uranium Council's meetings from 2011 until present.

F.O.I. requests are not free of charges. The quote I received back for this release (after protracted email negotiations) is $440. This includes the government administrative fees plus a 7% commission charged by GoFundMe for the hosting of this fundraising campaign. Your donations do not fund me for my administrative or research work, which I volunteer. Once released, these documents will enter the public domain for the benefit of anyone who wishes to read or study them.
