UW Alumni, HOCR, and Autism Speaks
Donation protected
Hello,
We are all University of Wisconsin-Madison graduates and are rowing in the Head of the Charles Regatta (HOCR, see www.hocr.org for more information). In an attempt to do a little more than just enjoy a weekend with fellow alumni and dozens of friends, the members of this crew have decided to also support a charity of our choosing in an effort to spread the word about a cause we care about. As a result, we are raising money for the Head of the Charles charity as well as for Autism Speaks.
Autism affects all of us whether it is a direct family member or a close friend's family member. Ten years ago, 1 in 200 children were diagnosed with Autism; today, 1 in 68 children are diagnosed and on the spectrum. The level of awareness as well as remedies and therapy have grown expoentially in the last decade, and Autism Speaks is one of the orgnaizations that is spearheading the outreach and community support about this cause. Autism Speaks is the world's leading autism science and advocacy organization. It is dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments, and a cure for autism. In addition to all that, they increase awareness of autism spectrum disorder, and advocate for the needs of individuals of autism and their families.
If you know anyone with Autism, please join us in this cause and support Autism Speaks and the wonderful work that they do. When you donate, please feel free to donate on behalf of someone special or close to you. Please share this link with family, friends, and anyone who you think would be interested in supporting this wonderful cause. https://www.autismspeaks.org/
