In Memory of Eric Johnson

New Hampshire lost one of its most enthusiastic maple producers  - we are heartbroken to let everyone know that Eric passed on from the effects of his ALS. He was peaceful and surrounded by love.
Eric loved sugaring, he knew his numbers like they’re tattooed on his arm.  An Andover, New Hampshire maple sugar producer, he could tell you that in 2005, he sugared 24 gallons of syrup.  In 2013, after over 400 hours of gathering, boiling, and filtering, 640 gallons were filled.  75% sold from the sugarhouse and at farmer’s markets, 10% went to a large Vermont manufacturer due to its dark grade, and 15% sold to local business at wholesale.  Eric could talk sap gallons, syrup ratios, tap numbers, and dark and light percentages like any master sugar man.  Maple syrup numbers provide satisfaction, fulfillment, and joy. “I love it,” Eric said. “I’ll do it for the rest of my life.”

As a fellow maple producer I ask all of you to join me by donating  to  Compassion Care ALS,
who helped Eric in his time of need.  All of the monies collected  will be donated to Compassion Care ALS in honor of Eric.  This will assist others who are also suffering from such a devastating illness.
