Minty - A Harriet Tubman Film
Harriet Tubman is one of America's most beloved historical figures but has sadly been largely relegated to just a few facts during Black History Month. This incredible ex-slave, spy, cook, nurse, public speaker and rescuer deserves a story worthy of her stature.
"Minty" - tentatively titled after Tubman's nickname - is a "reimagining" of Harriet Tubman as an action hero. Her two favorite possessions were her Bible and her pistol and she used both to rescue hundreds from the clutches of an evil institution. It is a period piece with a modern flare.
We've secured a $10,000 grant from a non-profit artist development program in Los Angeles and are seeking additional funds to complete our project in a manner that properly honors this fierce American warrior.

We hope you'll join us in this journey to tell the untold about perhaps one of the greatest women in American history.

"What makes Allen’s project unique is her portrayal of Harriet Tubman as a powerful leader, who historically carried with her the Bible, and a gun. As Allen promotes, Tubman was not your soft, fragile 'grandma' – she was a fierce ‘larger than life action hero’ who led hundreds of slaves to freedom through the Underground Railroad."
