Boy Scouts Building Nepali Schools

Help Boy Scout Troop 34 rebuild a school in Nepal that was flattened by the April 2015 earthquake!

Last year, Eagle Scout Harrison Gibson was traveling in the poor Himalayan nation of Nepal when a disastrous 7.8 magnitude earthquake ravaged the country.

The monster quake rocked cities, flattened villages, and killed more than 8,800 people.

Himself uninjured, Harrison abandoned his sight-seeing expedition and joined in the relief effort, working alongside Nepalese volunteers and non-governmental organizations to provide desperately-needed aid to some of the poorest and most badly-damaged villages.  Check out more about Harrison's incredible story here.

Harrison relied on his Scouting skills to make a real difference on the ground in the aftermath of the quake.  Unfortunately, many areas in Nepal still have not received adequate aid and many communities still lack schools or the necessary funds to rebuild those that were destroyed.

After hearing our fellow Scout's story, we, the Scouts of Boy Scout Troop 34, Wichita Falls, Texas have resolved to make a difference as well.  Partnering with engineers, charities and architects in Nepal, we will provide hope and educational opportunity for generations of underserved Nepalese children by re-building the largely demolished Shree Lower Himalaya Secondary School in the village of Hamshapur in the Kaski district of Nepal. This school will serve 160 children in grades 1-8.

The government of Nepal has already granted $27,000 towards this $52,000 project.  Raising an additional $25,000 by the end of August will enable us to break ground in October.  Every donation we receive will go directly to making this dream a reality -- Please help us reach our goal.

Thank you so much for your support, and please spread the word.  Don't forget to look for updates here throughout the project!
