Help us with Toojoh's Medical Bills

This is Toojoh. He is a 10 year old collie mix and is the sweetest, most loving, and fun dog you would ever meet. He is never aggressive, loves to play fetch, and is as smart as can be. Unfortunately he has been diagnosed with renal failure - that means that his kidney's no longer want to do their job right - and a painful, itchy bacterial infection.
His caregiver loves him very much but lives in a rural area in Northern Ontario where getting the care he needs is very difficult. So, she is sending him to live with me, Johanna, in Hamilton so he can get the care that he needs at the University of Guelph. There he will see an internal medicine specialist. The vet says that he will need ongoing medication and specially formulated food so that he can live happily and comfortably. With the proper care he can have a few comfortable and happy years left.
This is Toojoh's paw, where his skin infection has caused painful sores. Before he began antibiotic treatments it was twice this size and very inflamed. It still has a long way to go and the vet tells us that it is unlikely he will get all the hair back.
The bacterial infection spread to Toojoh's eyes as well, and has caused a lot of discomfort. Antibiotics have made them a little better, but they still get quite goopy in the mornings. The fur around his eyes has all fallen out, as you can see, and it is very uncomfortable for him when we clean them up every morning.
The vet, specialist and medicine bills are very expensive so we are asking for help so we can make sure he gets the best care possible. The initial vet visit and medicine cost $600 and his specialist visit will be another $400. With medicine and food Toojoh will need at least $2000 to get better and live comfortably for the rest of his life. Renal failure is a progressive disease, so the goal is to put him on a proper diet and medicine that will slow the progression of the disease and make him as comfortable as possible for the time he has left. Many dogs live for years after diagnosis with proper care.
Any help that you can offer to make Toojoh's life easier will be so much appreciated. We love him so much and want him to be comfortably and happy. With a little luck, and your generosity, he will be up and chasing squirrels again in no time!
