Tom Brubaker, a loving husband, father, son, brother, and soon to be grandfather passed away September 5th. He was diagnosed with an inoperable stage 4 brain tumor in 2012.
Nancy, Tom's loving and faithful wife, has supported Tom and been by his side through this entire journey. She has always found a way to cover medical expenses, but due to a number of insurance mix-ups and miscommunications, Tom's stay in the hospital and months of full time care in the rehab center have racked up the medical bills to be more than we ever could have anticipated.
In addition, the loss of Tom's income, and changes to the family's health insurance and other employee benefits following his passing, have left Nancy in a precarious financial position since her job provides minimal income and no benefits. She is facing bills, mortgage payments, and her own medical expenses. Dealing with the long term stress of being the primary care giver for the last four years has taken a toll on Nancy.
Then, in July, Nancy had a very critical and extremely painful accident that ruptured her spleen, requiring a trip to ER, a closely monitored stint in intensive care, followed by several days of recovery and observation on the surgery floor before finally being released from the hospital on July 10th.
She was able to avoid two surgeries; one an extensive procedure to remove her fragmented spleen, and another less extensive laparoscopic procedure to clean out the 12 to 15 pounds of blood that had accumulated in her abdominal cavity.
We are asking family and friends to help out in any way possible during this trying time. Any gift of any amount will make a difference.
All of the money raised will go directly to medical bills, home care, and financial assistance for Nancy. Thank you so much for your support!
