The Pandemic Project
Donation protected
The Pandemic Project is a group of 6 Community Problem Solving high school students who want to deter pandemics like Zika.
According to the World Health Organization, vector-borne diseases make up approximately 17% of all infectious diseases. A vector is a living organism that can transmit harmful pathogens and infectious disease between humans or from animals to humans. Dangerous Pesticides are the best-known efforts of killing vectors.
Since vector-borne diseases cause more than 1 million deaths annually, how might we implement an environmentally safe way to deter vector-borne diseases, so that Flagler County is more prepared for pandemics like Zika virus in 2016 and beyond?
We plan on implementing bat houses in our area that will attract bats which, through the natural food chain, will consume mosquitos, the most dangerous vector. Although, we do need funds to implement this. Please aid us in completing our mission by donating to our project.
