Our Story:

My name is Joe Kabes, the creator of The Overcomer, a patent pending, revolutionary piece of adapted fitness equipment which allows individuals with special needs the ability to engage and interact in fitness and health-related activities like never before.

As a physical educator and fitness enthusiast, it is my passion to develop the love of health and wellness in all of my students. I teach in an inclusive setting with students who are typically developing and those who have special needs. The Overcomer was developed to ensure that my students with Cerebral Palsy and ambulatory needs felt successful, engaged, and empowered.

I quickly realized that there isn’t a wide range of equipment options for individuals with special needs, especially those in walkers, standers, wheel chairs and gait trainers. I decided to take matters into my own hands and began developing playful and functional adapted equipment that would create a sense of inclusion and self- worth, as well as increase their fitness levels.

The Overcomer is a versatile physical activity system that is able to operate with a multitude of different manual and power wheelchairs, walkers, standers, and gait trainers. The interchangeable sport and gaming attachments make it possible for users to participate in a number of fitness and health-related activities and transition from one to the next quickly and easily.

The Overcomer is adjustable to meet each individual's size and method of ambulation. The Overcomer can be used in a variety of settings including home, school districts, hospitals, physical therapy/rehabilitation facilities, and recreation facilities to name a few.

We Need Your Help:
In order to make this product a reality for individuals with special needs around the world, we need your help in funding this mission. When manufacturing a product, there are many expenses involved; including patenting, fabrication of molds, manufacturing, packaging, marketing and distribution. We have had interest from organizations like Special Olympics and Little League International. I am currently in the process of getting my products ready for volume production, but need the funds to get through this next vital phase!

Please help us empower and improve the lives of individuals with special needs around the world!

Hello Family, Friends and Supporters!
I want to share with you the progress your support and donations has helped to make. Over the past 2 1/2 year journey, God has blessed this work in so many ways! He continues to do so and amaze me each and every day with new connections and steps forward.

I have had great traction with our striking device and have been able to share the joy of physical activity with so many through events like Disability, Dream and Do and Challenger Baseball with Miracle Field and the Miracle Making Club. I have seen first hand the success and inspiration of these amazing athletes and have shared the sense of pride and joy with their families.

Thanks to all of your support, we have been blessed to reach and surpass our initial goal to get started, but now is where the costs increase drastically to get the products to a point of volume production. I have raised my goal for this juncture in an effort to propel us to the next level where we can make a difference across the country with our products.

I prayerfully am asking for your continued support in sharing in this mission!

Hello Friends,
I wanted to send out an update on things. I've been busy over the past few months with my continual development of The Overcomer, as well as taking care of my families newest addition. My wife and I were blessed with a baby girl in May.

Towards the end of the summer I will be working with The Rochester Institute of Technology to really analyze and fine tune The Overcomer. We will be working together in an effort to help test, engineer, and design a version of the Overcomer ready for manufacturing. I also have some other connections that I am pursuing and will keep you updated on.

I greatly appreciate all who have helped to donate, make connections, and provide services towards this important work! I pray that you will continue to share, donate, and support us so we can make this project a reality for so many and change the landscape of adapted fitness and sport equipment around the world!

Thank you and God Bless!
Joe
