Makaela is my friend's 7 year old daughter and has been struggling...no FIGHTING cancer for the past 2 or so years....that attacked the bone in her left leg. I watch her (well not really, she is like one of my own) but in the mornings and after school. She is a trooper! She never lets anything get her down.
She is the kindest little girl that I have ever met.
She had surgery to remove some of her bone...I do not know all of the specifics...but she was in remission over the summer IT WAS AWESOME (her and my now 2 year old were actually were having a race to see whose hair would grow faster...and YES Makaela WAS winning!)
However right before school started her cancer came back and she has been doing chemo and lost her hair again....
But...THIS girl is ALWAYS positive, sweet, kind and knowing in 7 days to eliminate cancer at a much higher (hopefully for good) chance MY baby girl Makaela is getting her left leg amputated.
She is 7….
7....SEVEN....years old
This girl is stronger than most people I know.
She never cries...even when I see she wants to. She just says everything is okay....She wants everyone else to be happy and not to worry anyone...she is much wiser than her age. She is a beautiful soul.
Carman is my friend, she is a single hardworking mom to Makaela, she goes without so Makaela can have what she needs. This amazing little girl is NEVER in a bad mood, always sweet…KIND…there are no words to express how much this girl means to me.
The school she goes to sent home a letter that really touched me, and well, I want to see if I can do more for her, knowing Carman will probably miss a lot of work. They are having the 2nd grade classes raise money for an American Girl doll, and then going to actually send it out to get a matching purple prosthetic left leg on the doll. I am so touched by how awesome this school, staff and parents are and how helpful they have been just being kind and even the smiles they will give her.
I want to do something more for them. I adore this girl and her mom.
