Keep Pets of Domestic Violence Safe in Kerrville Texas
Women of domestic violence have endured unspeakable traumatic experiences. These women come to a shelter with feelings of guilt, self-blame, and deep trust issues. The realization that they will have to leave their beloved pets, in the very same environment from which they are struggling to escape, is unbearable.
These pets provide an emotional bond as well as unconditional love that has proven to provide powerful healing effects for these women and their children.
Between 71 and 85 percent of women entering domestic violence shelters reported that their abusive partners had threatened, injured or killed the family pet.
The Hill Country Pet Project is seeking donations to improve the pet facility at our local Kerrville Women’s Shelter.
SPONSORS OF $2000 OR MORE WILL RECEIVE A RECOGNITION
