Geeta Documentary

Donation protected
We would like to extend a huge thanks to everyone who continues to donate now and again towards our film. We are progressing. Our biggest barrier is always financial. Every dollar you have donated to us as a production and previously in support of Neetu when she was stuck in Chennai has been incredible.

.................................... ASKING FOR HELP .......................................

[2017] As you might know, we’re making a documentary on violence against women in india (The Colour of Love), and we need your help.

One of the main characters in the documentary, Neetu, is an acid attack survivor who is about to undergo surgery to restore her eyesight in Chennai, South India. We’re in India right now to capture this important milestone in her story.

However, we’ve found ourselves in the situation where grants promised have not arrived and we need to not just film, but ask our friends and networks to also support her financially at this challenging and critical time. This includes her accommodation, food, daily travel, medicines, the costs of her friend staying in Chennai for over a month to care for her and other personal expenses while she is away from home and her mum for over a month.  In addition, last minute developments like her need for a blood transfusion has meant that the surgery was put back until April 15th and previous volunatary support fell through (offers of accommodation etc).

If anyone can help it would be wonderful. As a crew we are really struggling to settle all the bills from the trip ourselves.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us through the development of our film and some of our trips to india. We just couln't do it without you.

Her second surgery will take place in a few days and so once again expenses for the operation etc will come up.

The international community are currently supporting her as much as they can, but she needs more help!

BACKSTORY

Geeta and Neetu were both doused in acid by Geeta's husband (Neetu's father) 23 years ago which completely blinded Neetu. Ever since she has been waiting for an operation to restore sight in one of her eyes.

Last year we documented Neetu getting her first eye tests and documented the results and the struggle she has had to get her eyesight back.

We are excited for Neetu's opportunity and hold every hope her dream will finally be realised.

Neetu and Geeta's story is about their empowerment and their personal journey to bring about change and their involvement in the amazing Stop Acid Attacks movement in India.
