OUR STORY
For the past 7 months, our Destination Imagination (DI) team, “The Code Breakers” (Meredith, Abby, Skylar, Kaitlyn, Rylee and Addison) have been working on the Scientific challenge. In March we competed at the Regional Competition and came in 2ndplace! On Saturday, April 22nd we competed in the Minnesota State Championships and placed 5th in the Scientific Challenge, with having the most points available in our central challenge out of 17 teams. Unfortunatly this did not qualify us for Globals. On Monday we received an email stating that after further review of our scores that due to the high score received in the central challenge, that they strongly felt we earned a spot at globals!
We are thrilled to have earned the opportunity to represent Alexandria, Minnesota at the Global DI Competition at the end of May in Knoxville, Tennessee!
COSTS
Our goal is to raise $8,000 to cover the $750 per student and per chaperone Globals fee, along with our travel expenses. We plan to run other fundraisers as well to help us raise the money we need to get there!
HOW YOU CAN HELP
We appreciate any donations you can offer to help us reach our goal and make it to the DI Global Competition.
WHAT IS DESTINATION IMAGINATION?
Destination Imagination (DI) is a volunteer-led, educational non-profit organization that teaches 21st century skills and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) principles to kindergarten through university level students through creative and collaborative problem solving challenges.
Teams select a STEM challenge and present their solutions in a skit format. Every part of the Challenge is student directed- from the scientific research and the solution to the challenge, to the script, the costumes, the skit, etc.
