The hope for Nick campaign

Our journey...

August 13, 2015 my family suffered a great loss. My husband had passed away from a massive heart attack. It was sudden, totally unexpected and it turned everything completely upside down. He was my world - my everything. I had no idea how I would even carry on without him. I knew our autistic son needed me, he needed me more than ever, and so, I took on the journey caring for our son alone.

My husband and I were once involved in an amazing program called the Son-Rise program, but since he had passed away it made it very difficult to maintain and manage on without him.

What's the Son-Rise program?  I know some may ask, well, it is a home-based program for children with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities, which was developed by Barry Neil Kaufman and Samahria Lyte Kaufman for their autistic son, Raun, who is claimed to have fully recovered from his condition.

I'll post a link to show more information below.

Nick was such a daddy's boy, everywhere my husband went, Nick was right there. They were extremely close and since his death Nick regressed tremendously. I started working closely with our doctor in regards in helping him. Anxiety hindered most of his days and nights, and I knew he missed his dad which even to this day it's a tough concept for him to understand his daddy is truly gone.  But still, I know in my heart the Son-Rise program was/is a huge benefit for us, not only for Nick, but as a whole for our family.

As the months passed by, little by little Nick started coming out of his 'autistic shell' so to speak, drawing, singing, doing little things like brushing his teeth! (Yes, for me this was a huge success, brushing his teeth was the worst thing ever for him!) And I could finally see our son wanting to connect. And then something amazing happened....

I met someone!

I was absolutely terrified of meeting someone new, and terrified of introducing him to the autism world. But I knew in my heart if he truly cared, if he truly wanted to understand, then hopefully... he would join me in this amazing journey.

After months of describing and discussing all the sensitivities and unique behaviors my son had because of his autism, he told me he read every book he could get his hands on, watched very Son-Rise video I recommended to him and then he announced he wanted to travel to Sheffield, Massachusetts to the Autism Treatment Center and help Nick. We made a promise to each other to not give up, and promised to give love and hope for Nick.

If we could raise enough support we could cover the expenses for Price  (and hopefully one more dedicated person) to travel to the Autism Treatment Center in Sheffield, Massachusetts by the end of this summer. It could possibly be a whole new beginning for Nick and a journey we'll never forget.

Any donation, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for supporting us in this effort!
