This campaign is to say #ThankYouJake to Jake Taylor, an ordinary Canadian who became a hero by risking his life to save a teenager he'd never met.  People around the world have been saying #ThankYouJake on social media.

Not all heroes have superpowers or wear capes.

Here's the story:

When 18-year old Noor Fadel was assaulted on a Vancouver train by a man who said he wanted 'to kill all Muslims," everyone on board just sat and watched.

When he grabbed her and tried to pull off her hijab, everyone just sat and watched.

When he hit her on her face, and tried to pull her face into his crotch, everyone just sat and watched.

Except for Jake Taylor.

He got up, stood between her and her assailant, shoved him, and told him to "get the F-- out of here." He risked his own life to protect a stranger who was completely defenseless.

Let's share this to show him some love.  You can read some of the responses from around the world here:

#ThankYouJake - Going Viral

To be clear, Jake has never asked for money or anything else in return.  He doesn't even know me, I just think this is a nice gesture to say thank you.

No good deed should go unrewarded.

If you're Canadian, you know Jake exemplified the best of who we are.  He stood up for a defenceless stranger, and didn't ask for anything in return.  Even just $5 or $10 is a small way to say thanks.

If you're Muslim, then 18-year old Noor could have been your daughter, your sister, your best friend, or even yourself.  We owe him a debt of gratitude.  We're taught the reward for goodness is nothing but goodness.  Let's show him some love.

If you run a business or brand, and want to make a bigger difference by donating something really cool as a way to say #ThankYouJake, get in touch with me directly and we'll coordinate it as part of the video surprise.

How it Works:

Once we reach the fundraising goal, I'll fly to Vancouver to surprise Jake in time for Christmas - with (hopefully) the biggest surprise of his life.  I'll capture the moment on video, showing him that thousands of people around the world are grateful.  You'll get to see the actual moment where your contribution made a difference.

Dear everyone,

You did it!

Yesterday, we surprised Jake with the best Christmas surprise ever. It included a hand-made book with letters of thanks from around the world, delivered by a special guest VIP.

You can help by sharing and encouraging others to share this video:

As Jake began reading the book, his eyes filled with tears. He was so overwhelmed.

The evening included a special surprise by the Vancouver Canucks. They deserve a lot of credit. A lot of organizations passed on the opportunity to say #ThankYouJake, but as soon as the Canucks heard about it, they wanted to be involved. It says a lot about them and their leadership, that they know they're part of a bigger community and have a responsibility to give back.

Without going into too many details, Jake hasn't had the easiest life. He's never seen this kind of love before, especially from complete strangers. The effect that goodness can have, especially when he's never asked for anything in return, can be life-changing.

When Jake found out about this crowdfunding effort, he decided he was going to donate all the proceeds to his local rugby club. I've met some of the players and teammates in person. They're upstanding individuals, who care about their local community, city, and country.

Hi everyone,

We're in the homestretch!

The goal is to surprise Jake before Christmas, making this the best gift he's ever gotten.

Let's make it one last push towards the goal.

Since the campaign started, it's gone worldwide. But it's not over yet. You can still help by:

Sharing this link
Emailing friends

Stay tuned for other updates in the coming days. I'm sure Jake will be so overwhelmed with the outpouring of love.

Three days in, and we've already passed the 50% mark.

Let's keep the momentum going.

I'm in discussions with some Vancouver-based companies to see if they want to gift him something directly. If they do, then when we combine that with the current crowdfunding effort, we may be very close to reaching the goal.

You can still help by spreading the word.

The big donors are awesome (and are making such a wonderful gesture). But smaller donors are just as important. All the $5 and $10 dollar gestures really add up.

More to come...

Hi everyone,

Thank you for all your efforts.

We're hoping to surprise Jake before the holidays, so let's keep the momentum going. The story has now reached 1,200,000 people online. It could hit 2,000,000 by the weekend.

Whether you've donated or not, you can still help by:

Sharing this on Facebook
Telling your friends by email
Finding bigger organizations, like companies or brands, that want to get involved

Once we reach the goal, or once we get too close to Christmas, I'm going to take all the funds with me to surprise him in Vancouver. I'll record a video to show the whole process and his reaction. Think of it like a way that everyone can be part of the story.
