Help Terry Welch

Donation protected
My name is Matty Welch and this all started about ten years ago when my dad, Terry Welch was diagnosed with both mouth cancer and prostate cancer around the same time.  After numerous surgeries and after mourning the loss of my mom we thought that we were finally in the clear.  He had been told he was in remission and so we went on with our lives, happy to put the pain behind us. Two years ago we found out that the prostate cancer had returned and spread to his spine.  Although treatment possibilities are minimal at this stage it seemed that the shots he was getting every couple of months were keeping the cancer from spreading and our hope alive.  That was until we found out the he had cancer in his throat unrelated to the other two he had already been diagnosed with.  He had an emergency laryngectomy at the beginning of this month (June 2019) in hopes of removing the cancer once and for all.  Even though this would leave him without a voice we thought it was worth it, especially with the prostate cancer seemingly in check.  Unfortunately the surgery was not successful and he has been in the ICU since late last month trying to recover.  He will need additional treatments as well as long term care which will only be possible once he regains some strength.  Sometimes it feels like we are fighting an uphill battle and now that he cannot speak its been increasingly difficult to make sure he is at least comfortable and that his anxiety is being kept in check.  I am trying to keep it together and make sure his apartment and bills get paid for but ten years of cancer bills haven't left us in the best situation financially and I want to make sure he gets the best care possible without losing what little he has left.  Ive been in town from Chicago for over a month now and without working, the daily uber trips to the hospital on top of my bills and his are becoming difficult.  The apartment complex he has been living in has already started the eviction process even knowing he is in the ICU and cannot communicate.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read his story and please share.

Love,

Matty
