I'm Julie, a TEAM LUKE ON THE CAMINO coordinator. We are asking for your financial support for a safe trek for Luke on The Camino of Santiago also known as The Way of St. James. Luke lives with a rare form epilepsy that will progressively worsen. His is a story that is astounding and a pilgrimage worth supporting!
OF UNLIKELY MEETINGS
On April 10th, 2015 the lives of Luke Hutchins and Mark Peredo changed forever. While driving home on a southern Indiana highway Luke suffered his first epileptic seizure causing him to lose control of his vehicle and drive head on into Mark 's car at full speed. It nearly killed them both.
OF RAGE & HOPE
After over a year of repetitive surgeries to reconstruct his foot after the accident, Mark saw three years of hard work, goals and dreams vanish as he had to set aside his design and advertising business - he could only focus on walking again with a divinitive goal - to trek The Camino of Santiago's French Route to resolve “The Why’s” and make sense of the accident, life’s troubles and anger from it. 
OF FORGIVING & SUFFERING
Not knowing Luke’s condition, Mark had to let go and forgive Luke. After his return from The Camino, Mark sought to find Luke to see how he was. This is where he learned that Luke could do nothing that fateful day and in many ways, Luke's progressive suffering with epilepsy would continue throughout his life.
OF TRIUMPH OVER TRAGEDY
The Camino of Santiago is more than "an adventure" or "something fun to do" like many would term it. The Camino of Santiago changes lives. No one is the same after walking over 800 kilometers - physically, metally or emotionally. The Camino is known as a journey of renewal for The Mind, The Body and The Spirit for those seeking Faith, Hope and Charity. It is the journey of the external and of the Spiritual.
Those who complete the Camino look back and know - it was their walk - they chose this and no one will ever be able to take it away from them. It in Truth - a Triumph.
OF TEAM LUKE & SAFETY
Mark along with the assistance of US Military Veteran members of Team Red White & Blue and Athena's Sisters of Louisville have worked to build a Support Team for Luke's Camino called Team Luke. A support team of three comprised of experienced trekkers and veterans that are first aid trained to insure Luke's safety. Luke is asking you to contribte to the for funding for Luke's Camino of Santiago in Northern Spain.
OF FORGING & FUNDING FOR FOUR
Travel Per Member: $1,500.00 Planes, trains & buses
Prices of tickets fluctuate. This is the basic cost to get there. We will work to get the best price. Excess funds will go towards equipment we cannot get donated prior to the trip.
Food & Bunking Per Member :
$37.50 per day x 40 days $1,500.00
THIS IS The Camino - Team Luke will only stay in municipal or church albergue / hostel bunk sleeping facilities. Albergues cost between $10 -17 per evening with a communal meal. Your victory support and donation money will be used towards the true Spirit, Hope and Simplicity of the pilgrimage. The balance is used for food and any ancillary needs during the teams pilgrimage.
