Leslie's Road to Recovery
On September 5th, Leslie Grotenhuis - half of the dynamic duo behind Kick It Events and mother of 4 amazing kiddos, was admitted to the hospital for emergency surgery. We would soon find out it is stage III colon cancer. Since then, Leslie has been fighting like the superwoman she is through multiple surgeries and dastardly infections that have been keeping her from coming home.
As this horrible news spread, it was clear just how many communities Leslie has invested in and that hold her dear. From the schools the kids attend, to the ARC, to the JCC and the huge AVL running community, folks have been expressing tons of love and concern for our Wonder Woman. While we all know that Leslie is going to kick cancer in the teeth and come back stong, it is going to be a long road to recovery, first recovering from the surgery itself and then going through months of chemotherapy. The whole Grotenhuis family is going to need lots of long term support, and you are just the person to give it to them!
There are lots of ways to contribute to the cause
If you have a little extra cash to put towards mounting expenses, hit the little Donate Now button and have at it! Every little bit helps. Our fundraising efforts are going mostly towards medical expenses not covered by insurance (like deductibles and copays), and then to anything that will make Leslie's upcoming year a little easier (grocery delivery, child care, house keeping and the occasional mental break for some fun with the kids.)
If the timing is bad for a cash donation, don't despair! There are plenty of other opportunities to help.
If you have a little extra time to cook a meal, run an errand, or help with kiddos, follow this link on over to the Caring Bridge site and sign up for something to lighten the load!

Thank you for your support.
Seriously. Thank you. This is not going to be an easy year for Leslie and her family. Your gift will help ease the worry, and that's no small thing.
