Team Blake

As most of you know, Brent and Stephanie Nawrocki's son, Blake, has Cerebral Palsy.   Blake is being evaluated for a future surgery called a Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy. In a few short months, Blake will fly to St. Louis to be evaluated by the world renowned top Pediatric Neurosurgeon in the US at St. Louis Children's Hospital.  Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy is an elective spinal cord surgery that will help to correct the severe spasticity and tonal issues that affect Blake's mobility and causes his feet to turn in.  Once Blake has this surgery, we are hoping that he will be able to walk like most other children his age, and run faster than he already does!  This surgery will also, hopefully, significantly reduce any future bone surgeries that can become more difficult as Blake grows, because of how his Cerebral Palsy impacts his muscles.  After Blake has surgery, he will have to have intensive physical therapy, and then continue it after he is released for a year, as he will need to learn how to walk all over again. 

As you can imagine, after airfare, surgery, physical therapy, pre and post-op appointments and Stephanie not being able to work, so that she can be with Blake during this time, this will be a very expensive surgery, even with health insurance.  I know that Blake's outgoing and silly personality has touched all of your lives in some way.  He certainly lights up a room when he walks in!  Let's help to ease some of the financial obligations for the Nawrocki family, and allow them to concentrate on helping Blake and taking care of all 3 of their boys during this difficult time.
