Tatum was recently diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her leg and an area on her spine.  Osteosarcoma is a rare form of bone cancer that happens in children.  More importantly though, Tatum is a beautiful, energetic eight year old young lady who loves hanging out with friends and playing soccer and basketball.  She is very fortunate to be surrounded by loving family, friends, church and community.  As many of you know all too well, the fight to defeat cancer can be a long and expensive battle, which is why we are asking for your help. Whether its your daily prayers, notes of encouragement, and/or monetary donations, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  We serve a mighty God and we will WIN this fight! #TatumTough

Well, we left Houston last night with huge smiles, grateful hearts, and a story that will rock your world! It was a day of MIRACLES provided by none other than our Lord and Savior!
Part 1...Our first appointment was with one of our surgeons, our oncology team, and a ton of others from physical therapist to child life specialist!
Tatum decided to use her walker and walk in like she has been doing for a few days now. We turned the corner and their mouths dropped! We all packed into a room and Dr. Marco came in just speechless....(kind of nice to leave drs speechless, I picture God winking over their shoulders). He proceeded to tell us that there is no way she should be walking, since he cut through 3 nerves that should have left her without feeling in most of her leg! She has feeling in all of her leg except her quad muscle area, and it seems she is gaining a little bit of that back! Then he goes on to tell us about the surgery and 3 specific times when absolute precision was so important that they would have lost Tatum with the most miniscule of complication...he looked us straight in the eye and told us that this surgery had never been done before. More doctors continued to come in as the word spread about her walking so they all videoed and took pictures.

Now for Part2...
Our head oncologist told us that the pathology report stated the tumor had 80% necrosis (dead cancer cells) WHAT???? Let me remind you that in December we found the tumor, completed 2 rounds of chemo in January, and rescanned to find the tumor had doubled in size by Febuary....but...80% necrosis??? He was stunned, speechless... you name it. He kept saying he had no explanation....
When we were told that the chemo was not working, we found some fantastic 'homeopathic' doctors in Amarillo that advised us on diet changes and other 'supplements' that we've been implementing!
We know God can use any means he chooses for healing!!! We are fully aware that this all comes from Him and we will always give Him the glory through good and bad!

You see....back in January during a week long stay in the hospital for chemo, Tatum had a dream. In her dream Jesus told her she was going to go to Houston and she would not have cancer anymore and he told her she was going to be ok! Well...He didn't say what trip to Houston, but we know He was talking about this one!!!
For the first time ever, we went to Houston and left the Drs speechless, not vise versa!
What perfect timing...Holy week! I am again reminded of His amazing grace, His miraculous healing ways, His comforting touch, and His perfect timing!
We will continue with a lot of therapy to hopefully regain feeling and get ready for Tatum to head back to school in a few weeks! She is so excited.
We thank you all for the constant thoughts and prayers....Prayers are answered on a daily basis and we are thankful that we don't stand alone. May you all be blessed this Easter!!

On top of Tatum up walking again....i got a call from her surgeon last night. He couldn't wait to tell me that the report on the margins came back and it showed that all margins were wide... meaning THEY GOT ALL OF THE TUMOR!!! He was just as ecstatic as we were and especially Shaylin and Tatum. THANK YOU LORD FOR ANSWERING OUR PRAYERS. We knew OUR God was way more capable than the 20% given to us...I never pay attention to percentages...Our God works miracles before our eyes and drs all the time....... NO DOUBT HE HAS HUGE PLANS FOR THIS WARRIOR!
Tatum has done great this week! She is so excited to attend the Team Tatum Tournament this weekend! Blessed beyond measure!

Dr just came out...they removed the tumor, replaced 2 more vertebrae and added more screws...he said it couldn't of gone any better than it did!! The tumor was embedded around a few nerves that control her right leg. Won't know until she wakes up, but could have a little weakness, but PT should help. He really studied every margin and thinks all margins are clear, but won't know for sure for about 7 days. The spinal activity was great the whole time. Recovery will be tough, but not tougher than my Tatum! We won't get to see her for a few more hours, but we are so THANKFUL for God's miraculous work. Prayers were answered and we can't wait to hold her!

Pre-op appointments are all done and Tatum is ready for tomorrow! We visited again with drs and he looked at Tatum and asked her, "Are you nervous Tatum because it's OK to be nervous." She looked straight at him and said "No, not really".....this day 1 yr ago my sweet Tatum went in for a 7hr surgery knowing she would not have her lower left leg when she woke. I'm seeing even more determination in this child today! I often ask myself how she can be so strong, because she doesn't get it from me or her daddy....SHE IS COVERED BY GOD'S COMFORTING TOUCH! He shines through her everyday and I'm so thankful He can comfort her, give her all the strength she needs, and lover her much more than I can! Her surgery is set for 7:30 in the morning! Please pray and stay in constant prayer for Tatum, her surgeons, no damage to nerves or spinal cord, our family, her pain control, and that no matter what....NOT 1 CELL IS LEFT! My prayer is that the surgeons walk out and say "IT COULD NOT HAVE GONE ANY BETTER"...Our God is amazing and shines on us each day, blessing us with more than we deserve! We thank you for joining us in prayer and believing that Tatum will be victorious! On a funnier note....Tatum reminded me that today is "nubby's" birthday (her little stump) so we are singing Happy Birthday! ...lol... #NOT1CELL #TRUSTINGINHIM #TATUMTOUGH
