This is Ricky & Melissa's Story... below is her post on what has happened to their amazing family. My husband and I wanted to start this GoFundMe account to help them with all the financial difficulties that come from a traumatic experience like this. When the accident occurred, Ricky (the sole source of income for this family of 6) was between jobs, his medical insurance is due to run out shortly, and they need help. Please take the time to read their story & donate. Even if it's only a little bit, it will help! They need gas money to travel to Indianapolis from Lafayette to visit their dad / husband... they need money for groceries & diapers, clothes.. etc for their newborn. Thank you so much for anything you can do to help! From Melissa:I just need to take a moment to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the love we have felt from everyone! We truly are blessed with amazing family and friends who have taken such great care of us and are continuing to help in our long road to recovery!! We love you all so much!! We just needed a little bit of time to process everything that had happened to us. This will probably be a long post, sorry in advance. I know so many people would like to know what's going on, so here is our story. Saturday evening we were in a very bad car accident. The roads were slick and we ended up pinned next to a cement barricade. We were all transported to the hospital in Lafayette. Lauren was released that evening with some bruising. Dylan fractured his hip and has a concussion. He was admitted to the hospital and was released yesterday. He will be on crutches for at least a week. Ethan fractured his skull and had a bad concussion. He was admitted and released yesterday, too. Thankfully the boys were able to be in the same hospital room and Ricky and I couldn't be with them. The kids are happy to be home with grandma and can't wait for dad, me and baby to join them! Due to the trauma of everything, baby boy Tate was delivered by emergency c-section on Saturday night. The amazing doctors took great care of him, but he spent a few days in the nicu. They had to give him a blood transfusion, as he lost some blood during the accident. He is off all monitors now, and doing amazing! He should be coming to my room today! (He does not have a name yet. Ricky and I will decide as soon as Ricky can meet him. Until then, he's baby Tate.) I have a lot of bruising, which hurts more than the c-section, and a fracture of a bone by my skull. It will heal by itself, thankfully. We should both be released from the hospital tomorrow. Ricky took the brunt of the accident and broke his pelvis bone in 4 places. He was sent to Indianapolis for surgery right after the accident. Surgery went well, but he will have a long rode to recovery. He also broke a few ribs and some vertebrae are misplaced. He will be at St. Vincent for the rest of the week and then hopefully transferred to St. Elizabeth East for rehab (probably 6 weeks). We are grateful that he will be coming back to Lafayette so we can visit with him more frequently!! We are definitely seeing answers to prayers daily and are so tremendously grateful to everyone!! We love you all so much!!
