Hello, my name is Tara. I am currently a senior at Beekmantown Central High School in northern NY, and have been fully accepted into SUNY Potsdam for the fall semester. I am also hoping to be accepted into Crane's music program, my audition is Wednesday, February 22nd. I have started this fundraiser to help purchase a Low C Professional model Bass Clarinet, specifically a Selmer Paris Model 33 (used). I need this instrument because it will improve my technic and expand the range of skills I can acquire to become a music teacher. Having this Bass Clarinet will provide me the opportunity to prosper and teach music to the next generation of students to come.
My plans for college include working to help pay tuition, room and board. I will not be able to afford a professional model Bass Clarinet in addition to college tuition. I would like this Bass Clarinet for the summer to practice on, especially if I don't make the audition the first time, for the purpose of reauditioning.
This fundraisers goal is set at $6,000 because another buyer is offering me the same model for cheaper than the people I was originally going to purchase it from. I might still buy it from the other buyer, but I am still contimplaiting. I might purchase from the original buyer, not sure. However, even if the amount is not reached, the money given will be extremely helpful. I have spent hours of practice time working towards my future and to achieve my dreams of becoming a music teacher. I would be truly grateful for any amount donated. All the money donated will go towards the purchase of the instrument. Any funds raised beyond the purchase of the clarinet will go towards my college funds, such as tuition, food, items I will need.

Some groups/things ORGANIZATIONS I have participated in, or been involved in:
* 8 NYSSMA solos. NYSSMA it is a festival in which you prepare a solo and play for a judge and receive a score.
I have prepared and performed level 1 to conference (Conference solo is also an audition for the highest band in the state on top of the regular festival score; I did two)
*Area-All State for 5 years (High school level band, played in grades 8th-12th)
*Been in All-county (including all-county 11-12 orchestra)
*Played with a college level Symphonic Band at SUNY Plattsburgh
*Member of the Strawhatters Community Band
*I was accepted and participated in NYSBDA twice: 8th grade year and this year as a senior. (Second highest band in the state; I was chosen both times from a pool of about 140 students state wide)
*Member of my schools pit band for the musical productions of Once Upon A Mattress, Annie, ….
This year’s musical allows me to practice switching between Bass Clarinet and Clarinet within the production itself.
*I have taken up private Clarinet (soprano) lessons.
