Help for Tad's Cancer Treatments
Thaddeus "T.A.D" Stamps has been an important figure in the local underground music and arts scene in Baltimore. As the singer for the band Stout, he has toured the world spreading the underground Baltimore sound. As the founder of DefiantAD, he has produced websites, stickers, tshirts, and designs for national and international artists. However, his greatest achievement was the birth of his twin children, Decimus and Danica, and his marriage to Hillary. Tad is a stay-at-home father and manages the daily aspects of the household in addition to managing his band and design company. Recently, Tad was diagnosed with Cancer of the Lymph nodes and is undergoing an aggressive form of Radiation therapy. The treatments he receives take a heavy physical toll on him and are not fully covered by his insurance. We are seeking to raise funds to help offset the costs of his treatments and to help with baby sitting costs and covering meals for the family. Your help is greatly appreciated by Tad, his family, and his friends. Any amount you can give is greatly appreciated, no amount is too small! Please help us also by spreading the word....
Special thanks to Erick, Bill, and Doc Jock from Hardcore Cares who donated over $300 to Tad's cancer fund from money they helped raise from a show they put on. These guys selflessly put on shows to help others and go above and beyond to promote underground music and fight animal abuse. Please support them and their shows! We are very close to hitting our target fundraising goal and with your continued support, I'm sure we will surpass it. Thanks to all who have donated or reposted, it really means a lot!
Saturday night, we had the benefit show for T.A.D. at The Windup Space with Cro-Mags, Next Step Up, WarXGames, and Queensway. The show sold out and there was a great positive vibe throughout the packed club. Lots and lots of old friends came out to support Tad and catch some killer live performances. Despite feeling very beat up from his treatments and general stress, Tad felt well enough to do a surprise appearance with Stout. Stout performed 4 songs after NSU played and the house went absolutely nuts. If you weren't there, you missed something amazing! I spoke to Tad yesterday to ask how he was feeling and surprisingly, he feels 10x better after playing that set than he has in a few months! Hardcore therapy for sure! Thanks to several people who helped make the show possible: Russell at Windup, NGMF brothers: Ike, Noah, Wes, Matt, and Johnny for helping organize and run security, Sammy for helping coordinate with Cro-Mags, the guys from Headbangin Hotdogs for the killer food, and the great bands who came out and donated their time to perform for everyone. Between ticket sales, donations, sales of shirts, and a donation from Windup Space, we raised close to $5600 (coincidentally, this will cover the $5000 bill Tad received on Friday, so couldn't have been more timely!).
We will be hosting another great night of music and fundraising on November 28th at Ottobar with The Slumlords reunion and other special guests who we will be announcing soon. On the 28th we will also have all kinds of great art, services, and other goodies you can bid on so you'll want to bring some loot!
Thank you all for your continued support!
We had a very successful fundraiser at Bertha's in Fells Point this week with Old Blue Eyes, Oldham Boys, Rodney Henry, and DJ Gray. The place was packed with well wishers and Tad and Hillary got out for a much needed evening with friends. We raised nearly $2500 thanks to the good people at Bertha's for agreeing to host the show. We have another benefit show coming up on October 10th with Cro-Mags, Next Step Up, WarXGames, and Queensway at The Windup Space. I hope to see some of you there. As always, thanks for all you do to support be it donations or reposting, it means a lot.
