PLEASE READ (UPDATE 9/2016): As you may be aware, we started this donation site to support the Sullivans during an unexpected and scary time for Trevor's heart transplant in November 2015.  Trevor recovered remarkably and jumped into raising awareness for organ donation.  Things took a turn in Trevor's health this July when he became increasingly weak.  His new heart seems fine, but Trevor now cannot walk or even stand without assistance.  Many doctors and organizations are invloved in trying to find the cause, but 6 weeks have passed and he continues to digress,   Please read the latest post for an update from Phil (Trevor's dad).

The impact of your donation to the Sullivans has gone far beyond helping ease financial worries. Through your generosity, thoughts and prayers they have found hope, comfort, love and so much more. Their hearts have expanded to hold a place for you – their ‘heart’ family. Friends are reminding the Sullivans daily that this is their turn...they have always been the family people can count on and have been there for them all through the years. We were able to raise $69,000 during the time Trevor was waiting for his heart.  The Sullivan's are a single income family with 4 children and it literally saved them.  Between copays keeping up a house, feeding 6 people and travelling back and forth to Ann Arbor, they couldn't have done it without all of you.

The Sullivan Family would like to take this opportunity to express their deepest gratitude for the vigil of prayer and support that surrounds Trevor. May the Lord bless each heart for every offering being made for him. Please continue to spread the word and help us rally around this incredible family in prayer and support. We know they are beyond grateful!

Sincerely,
#TeamTrevor

Update from Phil (1/19/2017): It's been a while since our last update! Trevor continues to do well with his physical and occupational therapies. Still going three days a week. He is getting back into that thing they call school! Still doing half days and is looking forward to going back full time. Our three other kids are doing well also. Can't believe how far all of them have come since February 2015.

A year ago this week we released our now famous video of Trevor waking up after his heart transplant and it went viral. We continue to promote organ donor awareness. It's amazing just how far our video went all over the world. Trevor was honored to have CNN choose it to be part of their memorable stories of 2016. http://www.cnn.com/videos/living/2016/01/24/teen-awakes-with-new-heart-orig-vstan-dlewis.cnn

Trevor has also been able to give back to Wish Upon A Teen a few times, he has helped to decorate rooms and by helping with fundraisers for #WishUponATeen.

Thank you everyone for all of your continued support and prayers for us. Our goal is to get back on our feet this year, we really don't know where we'd be without you all.

Phil

Post from Phil (11/13/16)
*********** WE REJOICE ***********

It's hard to believe it has been a year already since we got the call.

Prior to this date last year we were heading down a dark road. A road none of us wanted to see. We carried on as a family as best as we could.

It's been a year filled with ups and downs. Mostly ups! With the exception of a three month stay at the hospital, thankfully not heart related. But we came out on top once again.

We rejoice in the spirit of our donor, whomever they should be. We know their family is experiencing a different day today. One filled with grief at the loss of their loved one. We thank our donor family everyday for the sacrifice they made. Without organ donation we do not know where we would be.

On this day we rejoice. We have Trevor home with us, healthy as he can be. We say a prayer for our donor family. We thank our family and friends for helping us out and being by our side this past year. We thank our Team Trevor family for sending notes of encouragement and checking in on us all of the time.

On this day we say, Happy Heart Anniversary Trevor Sullivan. Love, Mom, Dad, Aidan, Liam and Fionna.

Update from Phil (10/8): Trevor continues to make progress in his therapies over the past week or so. He has been able to start using his walker a little bit more each day. He was using his walker two months ago and then his condition deteriorated from there, to the point he was unable to walk at all on his own. So he is gaining strength each day.

This week he was using the 'kitchen' a little bit making Mac and cheese in the microwave and root beer floats. A test on using his arm/hand strength and standing at the counter to get out some dishes. He was able to walk about 150 feet from the gym to the elevators and back with the use of his walker and someone right behind him with his wheel chair just in case.

The big news though is he was selected to be on the homecoming court again this year!! Thank you to all of the Groves High School students for sticking by him through the good times and the bad! He was able to make it to the game last night and take part in the ceremony. Unfortunately we had to have him checked back into the hospital by 10:00pm . Nonetheless he had a good time seeing everyone and being at the game!

Thank you everyone for all of your support, thoughts and prayers, it means a lot to us as we continue to be separated as a family.

I'm so glad you are doing good. I can't imagine how great that first time was being able to breathe without struggling or with pain. When I first watched your video it was during a time, for me, that was extremely difficult. My mom at age 65 suddenly past away, January 8, 2016, 2 days after her birthday and 4 months after my leg was amputated. She was a donor. Your video helped me realize how many people she helped to continue living. I also was a recipient of an artery from a person who past away, it's an amazing gift of life and loss. But it's also people like you who I want to believe she helped the most. That's what keeps me knowing she is still here, somewhere along us, at least part of here is still alive. You are a wonderful young man and my wish for you is a very long, happy, successful life full of love. And remember you have a families loved one tucked away in your beautiful heart. Treat it well and always continue too. ♡
