A New Scoreboard for Baseball

Tax deductible
For 66 years, Bangor West Little League’s commitment has been to our surrounding community and its children. We are more than just baseball and softball. We are a Bangor legacy and tradition.

We are:

·  A place where many of our coaches have been committed to the league for 3 decades or more, despite not having children in the league anymore.

·  A place where tweens and teens can earn independence by riding their bike to the field to hang out with friends in a safe environment.

·  A place so memorable and positive, many older teens return to the fields on a Friday night or Saturday morning to watch their old teams play or to help their former coaches in the dugout. (In fact, in a recent survey, 67% of former BWLL players ranked their years spent in our league as “The best years of my childhood.”)

We care so much about giving the experience of BWLL to everyone who is eligible, for more than 15 years, while other sports leagues have increased their fees, we have consciously kept ours at a flat $50. And we never turn away any child, regardless of their ability to pay.

Our district includes special demographics with a large percentage of disadvantaged families. For the 2019 season, we gave away a record $1200+ in scholarships to these families because we know that the experience of BWLL could be a life-changing one for some children.

In 2019, we also experienced a large surge in registrations. We grew 20% from 2018 to 2019.

All of this growth, combined with our commitment to be an accessible, affordable childhood experience for all the families in our district, has meant that we have less funds available to do needed repairs on our fields and equipment.

This year, our baseball scoreboard, which is 20 years old, finally failed us.

Also, our minor league baseball division, which has experienced the most growth over the last two years, still plays on a gravel field. We plan to upgrade the field to a proper dirt/grass one.

Unfortunately, our savings do not permit these improvements and repairs, and our board has agreed not to raise registration fees due to the amount of families who cannot afford it.

Therefore, we are looking for supporters to help us raise the money we need to replace our scoreboard and upgrade our field.

If you have been impacted by BWLL, or if you, like us, believe that every child should have the opportunity to play Little League baseball, no matter their ability to pay, please consider donating to our fundraiser. Our families, our children and our league thank you.
