AJ and Christy were pretty much high school sweethearts. Falling in love and travelling together was just the beginning of their life together. They married in 2012 and have a beautiful 2 year old, Flynn, who is cheeky and cute and their everything.

On Saturday April 29th, Christy and little Flynn dropped AJ off at a mates house in anticipation for a bucks weekend. They said goodbye for the night, with a simple see you tomorrow.

We hear of these terrible tragedies happening to other people, and never in our wildest dreams think that they can happen to us.

Enjoying a day on a boat, AJ entered shallower than expected water and has injured his C5 vertebrae. He was held up by his mates in the water for approx 2 hrs before emergency services could reach him.

AJ was taken to the Gold Coast Uni Hospital for assessment. It was confirmed he has shattered his C5 vertebrae, and has been transferred to the Spinal Ward at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane in an induced coma to assist his body cope with the trauma and for the specialists to plan his recovery.

Where to from here? Surgeons are operating today, but have said to expect for him to have no feeling or movement from his neck down.

How can you help? We are hoping to raise money initially to help support the limbo they are in, to cover accomodation costs, buying equipment to support AJ's new needs, etc. At the moment, AJ and Christy are supported by family, but longterm - the stress of adjusting to a new everyday routine, living expenses, care, support and bills - will eventually weigh down upon their little family of 3. As you know, AJ isn't the type of person to ask for financial help or handouts but with the tragedy that has unfolded we are asking for donations of any amount - they will be so greatly appreciated.
We won't be able to say thank you enough.

It's been a couple of months since I lasted posted and wow AJ is kicking goals. He's now got his own power chair to zoom around in and give him some independence and has also start learning how to use a manual chair also. Practice makes perfect.
I am constantly putting updates up on my personal page on Facebook but I'm thinking I'll create a page for AJ in the next couple of weeks where we can put photos, videos and updates.
We are very surprised and humbled with some very recent donations and appreciate so so much.

Today AJ is moving downstairs to rehab. An exciting but nervous day for AJ. He will love it downstairs. Can't wait to see him kick some goals and meet some new friends.
In the last week his temperature has drop and back to normal. They found a couple of small blood clots so they've started treating him with blood thinners and they seem to think they could of been causing his temps.
The times of visiting are a bit more strict downstairs so I'll pop a post up with the times etc in the next few days ❤️❤️❤️

We received confirmation yesterday that AJ will be staying in Brisbane for rehab. Such amazing news a huge weight off everyone's shoulders.
They had him sitting up in a chair and they've started feeding him some smooth foods, water and juice.
Hopefully today he will be transferred downstairs to the Spinal injury unit(rehab)
He had a great night last and finally caught up in some much needed sleep and had about 5 hours also his temperature has come down and is under 38C and his muck on his chest is becoming thinner which is such great news.
