Legal Fees to Reinstate License

Donation protected

As many of you know, Dr. Kali Miller Ph.D., a well-respected attachment therapist in Portland, Oregon, lost her license to practice last March.  She had a young client who she had diagnosed with RAD, whom she had not seen in 6 months.  6 months after she last saw this minor, he threatened suicide to his parents.  They took him to a hospital where the social worker talked to him by himself.  The medical team diagnosed him with Depressive Disorder NOS (not otherwise specified) and Anxiety Disorder NOS and moved the child to foster care.  They ascertained from the boy that he threatened to kill himself because his parents made him to Neurodevelopmental exercises, jumping jacks with positive affirmations, and bottle feeding for attachment.  Further, the social worker reported Kali Miller to the psychology board of Oregon and they suspended her license with immediate effect with the judgment that she posed a serious danger to public health and safety.

"Triangulation" (where the attachment disordered child pits one adult, i.e. the parent, against another adult, i.e. social worker, by playing victim) is a common proven symptom of RAD according to key experts in the field.  When feeling threatened or triggered the attachment disordered child can do anything to manipulate a situation.  Further, the Oregon Board of Psychology stated outright that there are not enough children in the entire state of Oregon to have a clinic with primarily RAD kids, showing they do not acknowledge RAD and it’s prevalence in today’s society.

There was a review hearing of the Oregon Board's initial decision to suspend Dr. Miller's license to practice in the state. Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond her control Dr. Miller was unable to present her significant research regarding her work with attachment disordered children and the positive effects of her work, nor was she able to call key witnesses that would have further supported her position that she should not be suspended from the practice of psychology in Oregon. Further, letters of support from other client families were also not presented in court.

This was an Administrative court, and the final judgment was that asking kids to jump 3x per day 15 times each with positive affirmations, strong sitting for 30 seconds, giving time ins instead of time out’s, doing Neuro-Reorganization, a form of neurodevelopmental movement work, and looking at your child lovingly in the eye caused imminent danger to children with RAD.  As a result of this judgment, any families found to be doing Time in’s, Neuro-Reorganization, any Brain gym activities, jumping with positive affirmations, or bottle feeding with an older child for attachment purposes, could be viewed as an imminent threat and DHS could remove your children.  Accordingly, it would appear that this case now has wider ranging implications on people throughout Oregon.

Dr. Miller is working on an appeal, but she is currently out of funds to support the hiring of an experienced attorney to adequately represent her on appeal. As a result of not being able to practice since last March, she has had to sell her house.  Her prior lawyer's fees have exhausted her bank account, and she is living in a borrowed housing.  She needs to raise funds to continue to get her license back, and if she were to attempt to represent herself in court she has a very limited chance of winning against a state psychology board.

As a parent* of a child who has lost the full RAD diagnosis as a result of Neuro Reorganization and Dr. Miller's experienced hand in working with our daughter, I can truly attest to her being a kindhearted yet fully professional therapist.  She is incredibly intelligent, compassionate and kind.  Indeed, her life’s work is to help children and families heal.  Please consider donating as little or as much as you can, to support her in her push to reinstate her license.  Please help so that she can continue to help kids with early developmental trauma and RAD to heal and become the amazing people they are capable of becoming. There are truly not enough experienced therapists out there and we need the good one's to remain practicing.

Due to the board's apparent view of attachment work, previous client families may wish to donate anonymously.
