Sunnyside Piazza Repaint & Kiosk
Donation protected
For 17 years, neighbors of Portland’s historic Sunnyside neighborhood have come together every year to re-paint a huge sunflower at the intersection of SE 33rd & Yamhill, one block off the Belmont Business District. This was one of Portland‘s City Repair’s first projects, which aimed to repair & reclaim this bland corner. In an effort to create community-oriented spaces, local residents painted a huge sunflower in the middle of the intersection and installed multiple art pieces around it. Ever since then, the people of Portland have turned this intersection into a space for art, expression, and community building.
A lot of planning and effort goes into making this happen every year. This project totally replies on countless volunteers and larger from both residential & business community support.
Please donate what you can to help us refresh the sunflower and keep Sunnyside Piazza a bright as ever! This year, in addition to paint, supplies and permitting costs, we hope to also raise enough money to build a new kiosk to have a designated for community art and poetry, and a space for sharing items like books, canned foods, and clothing.
