Tubal Failure = Oopsie Baby!

Donation protected
Hello! Thank you for visiting my campaign, your interest means so much to me! I'm Dara, my husband of almost 9 years is Chris, and I'd like to tell you our story:

My Story

After spending several years moving from rental to rental, we were finally able to purchase a home of our own in June of 2014. With three bedrooms and three bathrooms, it was the perfect size for our family of 6, and we thought it would be our "Forever Home".

(Doug, Dylan, Charlie, and Eric)

Four kids was the perfect number for us! We were completely content with our sweet little family, so we took steps to avoid adding to our ranks. Chris bravely underwent a vasectomy, and we thoroughly enjoyed the sense of security it provided.

Cue the ominous music...

Did you know that vasectomies are only about 99% effective? Shortly after moving in to our home, I discovered I was pregnant with baby #5.

In March 2015 we welcomed another little boy to our ranks, and I underwent a tubal ligation during my c-section. All was well! The fun of "no way can I get pregnant" shenanigans could commence!

With 5 children, our lovely home began to feel quite cramped! Baby items I had planned on getting rid of had to be kept, and our storage areas were groaning. Chris and I started discussing a modest home addition to gain extra bedroom and living space, but we didn't see it actually happening for a good five years or so.

After some growing pains, we became used to our lives with 5 little boys. I began to look forward to the future and what it might hold for us as the boys grew up.

Fast forward to April 2016. Baby Adam had recently turned 1, and I was dealing with some anxiety issues, since every time before when a baby of mine turned 1, I would be pregnant shortly after. I spoke to my therapist about it, and was working on getting past it.

Well, instead of my anxiety being relieved, it was increasing more each day my expected cycle was late. I decided I'd get a cheap test from Dollar Tree just to calm myself down, since with the tubal ligation, there was no way I could possibly be pregnant. Right?

WRONG!

(group chat with my best friends)

In the coming days, I had 2 blood tests and an ultrasound that showed a healthy-looking blastocyst happily sitting in my uterus.

Seriously!!??!??! Somebody must think this is funny.

My doctor explained to me what she thinks happened in my case. The tubal ligation surgery I had involved a simple cross section of fallopian tube being cut out and the ends left floating freely. In a miniscule amount of cases, a fistula of tissue can form at the ends of the cut tubes and reconnect them, allowing an egg to pass and become fertilized.

Failed vasectomy, failed tubal. Our family is no longer allowed to say "What are the odds?" We must be one in a billion.

The Problems

As we slowly get used to the idea of having our sixth baby, we're now presented with a few problems:

1: Our minivan only seats seven.
2: Our once perfect 3 bedroom home is now too small.
3: 8 year old baby equipment and hand-me-downs are worn out!

Solving these problems is going to be very expensive. Five high energy boys plus another baby due around Thanksgiving? We need more space, especially as these little guys become big guys!

Please watch my recent video of the oldest 4 celebrating the new dining room area rug (an indoor/outdoor model, to protect the carpet in our dining area. WHY is there carpet in the dining area??) Can you make it through the whole video without getting tired?

My life.

The Impact

Any funds we are able to raise here will go towards down payments on a larger family vehicle, and either an addition to our home or the purchase of a larger one.

(We need more room for WrestleMania!)

The ability to provide these much needed items for our growing family will be such a relief and a huge weight off of our shoulders. Planning for our future has been tough as a couple of OINKS (One Income, Numerous Kids), but with your help our family foundation will be that much stronger!

Other Ways to Help

It would be great if you could help by donating. But if you can't donate at this time, it doesn't mean that you can't help! Please share my story via social media, email and word of mouth to tell your friends about my campaign. Thank you in advance!

Please check back for updates as my pregnancy progresses, and as we make the decisions we need to benefit our growing hoarde.

Thank you!
