....This is Suhailito’s story, a beautiful and innocent eight-year-old boy, who has had to face many challenges since birth. Suhail was born at only five months and 20 days, weighing 1.2 kilos, suffered asphyxia at birth and extreme premature, with complications of necrotizing enteritis and Infant Cerebral Palsy. His intestine had a perforation, which was surpassed with an operation at only fifteen days of birth. As he grew, other injuries were discovered such as spasticity in arms and legs. With physical therapies he has overcome his problems in the arms but in his legs he had a stretching operation of tendons, he currently uses agfos but he still cannot walk.
Suhalito is continually encouraged with physical, speech, equine and dolphin therapies. With our love as parents we have looked for new alternatives to help our son and we have found the BRAIN TREATMENT CENTER, which has the MERT treatment, which is a new and mainly non-invasive medical procedure used to treat neuropsychiatric disorders. Our desire is to be able to take Suhalito to make the evaluation and then treatment, but for this we have to move to another country and incur in therapy expenses, air transportation and hotel stay, food and internal transportation for a month.
Our beloved son is our responsibility and as parents, within our limited possibilities we have given Suhalito all the treatments available in our country continuously, however, there are alternatives in other countries, with better results, but are not within our reach, this is why we need all the help possible so that Suhalito can have a better quality of life. We have fought and continue to struggle day by day to support Suhalito's fighting spirit, who from childhood showed that his will to live was greater than all the adversities that he had to face since he saw the light of this world. To see him overcome the coma several times has taught us not to decay under difficult circumstances and that is why we turn now to this last alternative as an outlet to raise the necessary funds for his treatment.
