For the past several days rescuers from all over have come together to help a special family. This family wasn't looking for help and never asked for a single thing. The 'rescue community' approached them. This family consists of an older gentleman named Steve and his 10 traveling dog companions. It is obvious he has been through some things in his life, but the love for his little family is abundantly clear. He could've easily left them or dumped them in a shelter like others have done, but he chose to do whatever it takes to keep them together. He has been traveling from California to get to a friends home in Indianapolis, Indiana. But, they're not traveling by air or car or truck. Steve only has a bicycle and a wagon type cart to move his fur family. He has peddled almost 2000 miles already faithfully pulling his family behind him. He has gone without to insure they eat and get what they need first. There have been a few people who don't agree with what we're doing. They think we should 'convince' him to surrender them all. Those that have the misconception that rescue is about tearing families like this apart need to step back and look at the big picture. No two situations are ever going to be the same and you have to act accordingly. Rescues are already overwhelmed everywhere. Removing these animals from their guardian, a guardian who obviously loves them more than anything and who is willing to give up things for himself in order for them to have what they need, would not only negatively affect them but this man as well. He is their whole life and they are his. Not every situation in 'rescue' warrants the automatic removal of the animals. There will also be instances when 'rescue' also means helping guardians to be able to keep their animals. He has agreed to let us help him vaccinate them, get them on heart worm and flea/tick prevention and get them spayed/neutered once settled in Indiana. That is also rescue. He made it to the west Memphis, AR area a few days ago when rescuers saw him and intervened. Actually Mickey Edrington's daughter Alicia initially spotted him and phoned her mom at work. Mickey told her to approach with caution offering food and water. She couldn't drive away without a plan being placed in motion and that's where this whirlwind of amazing friends, rescue members and strangers made a miracle happen. Mickey and a few other rescuers arranged for them all to stay in a hotel there for a few days. Others have donated dog food and other supplies for him and the dogs. Steve is going into a outreach program with an awesome woman named Angela. This program will help him to get a job and back on his feet and find him affordable housing as well. They also help with spay and neuter and so much more! He now has a future. I know this is the best possible outcome for this family. Steve and his 10 beloved dogs will need the following funds:
1. Vet bills covered for all dogs spays/neuters and vaccinations, flea/tick meds and heartworm meds too;
2. Dogs need lots of dog food, and enought dog food bowls and water bowls for their ongoing care while Steve gets settled;
3. Food and clothing for Steve;
4. Daily hotel room costs;
5. A new home or trailer home with a land lot space;
6. Other living expenses and misc home and dog supplies

Thank you to everyone who has helped in any way this far to keep this family together!!!

Hey everyone I know it's been a couple of weeks since we last updated but as we know nothing happens overnight. I'm proud to be making this post announcing several new things in Steve life. 1st they are now in a home of their own in Indianapolis along with all of their furbabies. Steve & Volena have both became legal indiana residents as both have passed the dvm requirements to obtain driving license. The furbabies are continuing to be spay & neutered as services are available. Tanner man is doing better with his colitis and is leading the pack again. Dem 3 precious pups are growing like weeds and have fit right in with the game. We are still looking for a means of transportation for Steve so he can obtain a steady job. Both Steve and volena have been able to obtain medical care that was and is needed. Volena has found out she is still CANCER FREE!!!! And the biggest of all Announcements Steve has asked his beloved Volena for her hand in marriage...And she said YES!!
There are still some things that will need to be set in place an aquired there will need to be a puppy play area built outside as the yard isn't fenced in and their safety is of utmost concern. But things are moving along. Thanks for everyone who has help and whom will help. Please visit the Steve and strays across the Usa page for more up to date info generally a daily post. Thanks

Good morning Everyone!!! We hope everyone has a great weekend. Just a little update,I just got off the phone with Steve and he is doing good. We had several discussions some business and some personal. He wants to thank everyone that is following his journey and let everyone know that he feels it in his heart and wishes he could thank every single person that has helped throughout this journey. We discussed the paying it forward to another person within his same situation,and he wants to use the donated trailer for just that,he has ok'd a set amount of funds for that to happen and we will make that happen. On a funnier not he's hoping we can find an easier phone for him to navigate as the current net10 phone he has is a little hard to work this coming from an Android user. I couldn't even figure out when he was here how to figure out how to load mins to the phone . lol
So we will be looking into seeing if there is an easy more updated phone available.
Also we discussed the purchase of a truck rather than a car,because a truck will be more feasible for working out of in a carpentry trade,can't stick a 10ft ladder in a economy car. We also discussed his mission to help strays and that it will continue but more on a scale of if he finds one being able to list the furbaby on facebook get help with funding to get the babies vetted and adopted out. Just like alot of small scale rescue members do. He wonders once he's settled will his followers continue or is it just a phase,and I told him in all reality yes you'll lose some followers we all do. But there will be many who want to continue to watch the journey, I myself will also follow him and keep in contact with him because he isn't a mission or journey he's a new friend in our lives... if anyone has any questions please feel free to post them to the page and we can get those answers for you also mentioned was the legitimacy of the gofundme acct. And Steve wants anyone who questions it to know he has no issues at all with speaking to anyone who fears their is a scam going on because there isn't. So thank you all for sharing his story, you are all blessed souls.

I'm sitting here in Sweden, it's in the middle of the night, and I'm reading about Steve and his dogs and my tears are falling. I'm sending a little money from Sweden to Steve and his dogs. It's not much because I only have a pension. But I have two dogs that I love and I want to help. Steve is a wonderful man with a big heart and I wish him all the best in the future. I did something... and it feels good in my heart. Together we can make a change!

I wanted to take second and tell all involved in this wonderful journey. That this story has restored my faith in humans,with all the awful atuff being done to poor animals today it us a breath of fresh air to read such a wonderful story about people working together for "just a dog" gosh my most hated statement,I cringe everytime I hear it. This is so much more then just a man helping his dogs. It shows that we can all still stand together and help one another with nothing in return but the great feeling of helping someone. God bless everyone involved.

Thank you everyone ♡♡. I know it's difficult to keep up but there were only 10 dogs not 11 so no worries, nothing happened to any of them. But each republished story keeps going off the 1st one which misstated the total.
