Who we are:

We are residents of Brandywine, MD.

Joanne is a community environmental activist who is currently the Vice President of The Greater Baden Aquasco Citizen’s Association and President of the Black Swamp Creek Land Trust Inc.

Joanne lives on a farm in Brandywine, MD and has lived here for 28 years.

Joyce and her family are  historic property owners who live  and run a business in the village of Brandywine.

Many of us are proponents of the Revitalization and Preservation of Brandywine for a walkable, bikeable liveable Brandywine. We are opposed to a 3rd power plant which is proposed to be located in the village of Brandywine.

Citizens were left out  and denied a democratic process in decisions being made about the two new power plants for Brandywine. For the sake of our community and all our futures we continue to fight.  Please join us!
Our relationship to the parties we are raising funds for:

The parent organization that your tax-deductible donations will be going to is Patuxent Riverkeeper in conjunction with Clean Air Prince Georges .

Patuxent Riverkeeper Inc. is collecting donations to help pay for the legal fees associated with an ongoing lawsuit to stop development of a third gas fired power plant in Brandywine, MD, proposed by Mattawoman Energy.
How the funds will be spent:

Your donations will go to an isolated account entitled
"Clean Air Prince Georges" held under the auspices of Patuxent Riverkeeper.

Patuxent Riverkeeper  Inc. will provide tax-deductible donation receipts upon request. Your donation will also be acknowledged with a Thank You from this GoFundMe campaign.

Clean Air Prince George’s  is an action committee that is comprised of local concerned residents. We have spent $14,000 on this case from donations from private citizens, but we anticipate needing close to $10,000 more in legal fees, to continue our appeal at the Court of Special Appeals.

All of your donations to this gofundme campaign will go to help pay legal fees associated with this case.

No donation too small! Help defend our community, and support efforts to reduce fossil fuel fever, and its impacts on our air, water, land, climate resources and our democratic process!

Thank you!

The idea that the environment is part of the common good belonging to all was around at the time the constitution was written. It has been supplanted by the emphasis on the individual right to become wealthy. The argument for the plant is economic. It is not based on what is the common good much less what we leave for future generations.

If everyone just pitches in a little bit, we'll have the money to pay the lawyer who just took on our case and continue the fight to stop the construction of the Mattawoman Plant. (It would be the second power plant within a mile!!) Other communities are not subjected to this!!
