Getting Out of a Bad Situation

Over this past year, we have lived in a one-bedroom house in Louisville, KY. We, in this case, being myself, and three roommates, all of us having jobs.

Despite being on a year-lease with a family member, said family member has not made a single effort to come run check-ups on the house, nor has made effort to come and do any needed maintenance. Maintenance such as;

-Weak Floors (We were told the floor had been constructed from particle-board, which is a no-no ESPECIALLY for a climate like Kentucky's),

-Leaky Pipes (Which we were told to get some JB Weld and fix it ourselves.)

-High Possibility of Mold / Mildew in the house. Which, considering both the age and dubious quality of construction and upkeep on the house, is highly likely.

Most recently (Yesterday, as of September 9th), a strong rainstorm hit Louisville. We see a lot of these go by, and the basement usually holds up well. This time, it did not. Water is currently leaking from the walls in the basement where it meets the floor. But, unfortunately, we cannot access the problem-areas of the leakage since there was drywall placed up prior to our move into this house.

Attempts to get something done about this problem with the landlord (unfortunately, being family as they are, we try to remain NOT confrontational) have resulted in us being blown-off completely.

Bills were just paid and rent was paid off the DAY the rain / flash-flood hit, so we're back to square-one again in terms of monetary assets.

I wouldn't make a GoFundMe page if I didn't think I exhausted all other options to get our of this situation. Right now, it's just not feasible to ask for more commissions to be put my way.

Any help would be appreciated.

For all who are willing to help with this -- Take into mind this goal isn't for repairs. That is the landlord's responsibility. This goal is to help with possibly getting out of this place, and cover the deposit for a new place, should we find a suitable one. I apologize if I wasn't clear. My head isn't on correctly tonight.
