Help lay our grandmother to rest

Donation protected

On Saturday, June 6, 2015 our Grandmother, Sonia Jones, was diagnosed with stage 4 Lung Cancer. At the time we were made aware of the diagnosis, the Cancer had already spread from her lungs to her stomach, liver, adrenal glands and bones. At this point Chemo was not an option. The doctors told us there was nothing more they could do but to try to help to make her comfortable due to the progressive behavior of the disease. They told us that she could live up to 6 months but the reality was that she could be gone any day due to her physical condition at the time. With each passing day in the hospital she became weaker and weaker and was in constant excruciating pain.

The Lord blessed us with seven (7) final days with our grandmother; she breathed her last breath this past Saturday June 13, 2015. During the seven (7) days she was in the hospital we found out that she was never able to attain status as a permanent resident here in the US, she was a native of Belize, and thus she had neither medical nor life insurance.

Grandma Sonia, as we lovingly called her, buried her three (3) sons, including our father, years before her passing and was preceded in death by her husband, which has left the financial burden of her final life celebration on us, her grandchildren. We are responsible for coming up with $11,500 by June 23rd which will cover her home going service and final resting place expenses as well as any other expenses she may have.

As a result of this, we are reaching out to see if anyone has the financial ability to help with any donations to assist us. Any donation amount will help at this time.

If you find it on your heart to donate please do. With having only one week between the diagnosis and her passing as well as finding out everything in between, we have had no time to just sit and grieve over our dear grandma; therefore we ask for your help to allow us lay her to rest and to begin the grieving process. We have a long journey ahead of us without our grandmother, but knowing that she has been laid to rest will ease the burden just a bit and will allow us to focus on picking up the pieces and moving forward with life without her here with us physically.

During this time we are reminded that God will not put any more on us than we are able to bear and so while we know that we have been equipped for this, we are in need of support. We trust that God has led you to read our story so that you can be a part of the support system that he has already created for us for this season.

Thank You in Advance and God Bless each and every one of you!
