Help Victims of the Attack #Somalia
More than 300 were killed and hundreds injured in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia on Saturday, in twin blasts that officials called one of the deadliest attacks in the nations history. Many are injured and the hospitals are packed. The hospitals and ambulance services have been working nonstop but are overwhelmed with the number of wounded. The hospitals asked the public to donate blood as there is a shortage because of the attack.
We want to raise money to help the hospitals and and bloodbanks with equipment. We also want to help the medical teams to spread awareness on the importance of donating blood and how to do first aid when something like this happens to save as many lives as possible!

1.Who you are: We are Shamsa and Amal, with the group "somalis against racism and injustice".
2. Who you are: We live in Sweden. We will travel down to Somalia to help.
3. Your relationship to the parties you're raising funds for: We have connections to Somalia through volunteer work and family.
4. How the funds will be spent (be specific as possible):
Funds will be spent on: material for the bloodbank (such as sterile medical supplies) refreshment to give the donors after the process so they can replenish lost iron and vitamin stores (Giving blood is a potentially life-saving act that helps trauma and surgical patients maintain healthy blood levels. The donors can experience side effects like lightheadedness, fatigue and loss of consciousness after giving blood). Help giving the option to donate blood in the local pharmacies. We will help the medical teams print free health information pamphlets and invite the public to learn first aid and how to react when something like this happens to be proactive. Money will also go to transportation from the bloodbanks and pharmacies to the Hospitals where they are needed. If there is money over we will spend it on DNA testing kits so the bodies can be identified at hopsitals and help with documentation, the Hopsitals know what type of kits they need etc. Everything will be public and posted continuously.

UPDATE:
We contacted Gurmad Qaran who are in Mogadishu now working with the medical teams. They told us this is needed urgently:
- Lack of DNA testing kits
- Lack of Blood Bank
- Clearing of the crime scene
- Lack of proper Donation Chain
We also contacted Somali Blood Donation Volunteers:
- They have no refreshments to offer the donors, wich are coming in by the hundreds because of the need!
