Sol Sips’ Permanent Home in BK!

$5,527 of $50,000 goal

Raised by 132 people in 10 months

Greetings,

My name is Francesca “Sol” Chaney, I’m a twenty-one year old entrepreneur, vocalist, creative, full spectrum doula and Pre-Health Professions/Anthropology Bachelor of Science candidate at Brooklyn College.

In 2015 I was introduced to herbalism, natural healing and holistic health care while working at my cousin’s apothecary. I began making herbal tea blends and elixirs for my own personal wellness. Soon I began incorporating them into sister circles and gatherings that I’d host on my living room floor. One of my close family members noticed my interest in plant-based wellness and worked with me in laying the foundation for Sol Sips. During the summer of 2015 we demo’d our first three drinks that went on to receive positive feedback from our community.

As our vision for Sol Sips continued to grow, we invested our time into branding and developing the core essence of our products. Sol Sips is The Official Alternative Beverage Company of Brooklyn. We take pride in creating locally-sourced organic plant-based drinks that contain four ingredients or less, with no preservatives or artificial sweeteners. In two years, we’ve created our own signature twists on herbal tea, caffeine-free herbal coffee, nut milks, eggnog, nectars, juices and very soon...wines and sodas.

In 2017 we expanded our reach, our services and our team through vending and curating events. We were offered the opportunity to do a three month pop-up cafe in Bushwick. My mother, Emeli Chaney has partnered with me in creating plant-based vegan bites, employing her background in integrative nutritional health coaching. In just four weeks we’ve received rave reviews and serviced nearly three hundred customers.

We’ve been offered the opportunity to keep the cafe space permanently!

We are extremely excited and very grateful for this phenomenal opportunity to expand Sol Sips. We are seeking support to purchase the space and make enhancements. Your contributions and energies are greatly appreciated.

*In 2018 look forward to our sliding-scale farm to table monthly community brunch, community cooking/juicing classes, more of our “Midnight Brunch” and “Tea Tones”, Sol Sips Sound shows and more!*

Dear friends and family,

The past few months have been a serendipitous experience, to say the least. I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many people, enhancing my leadership skills and diving deeper into my vision of accessible plant-based wellness. The journey has been full of victories and lessons. This community has gone far and beyond to support our vision. I honor your offerings/contributions by staying committed to our community, grounded in the business model and grateful. As long as my breath and spirit flow within my body I will always reciprocate all that you’ve extended towards this journey. I will always remember your names and your faces. Thank you

There are some of you who I’ve been lucky to meet in person and some of you who live in places I’ve yet to visit. Through each and everyone of you I’ve learned what support looks and feels like. These lessons have taught me how to show up more for my community and most important how to run a business that’s rooted in love. This is the energy that we will always move with.

In the past few months we’ve offered free cooking classes, hosted over 25 sliding scale brunches and created more jobs in the neighborhood by hiring local residents of Bushwick. This fall we’re teaming up with local farms to learn how to grow our own produce for our foods. We’re also working towards creating less waste and becoming 100% plastic free towards by the end of this year. These are just a few exciting updates to look forward to. If you haven’t already, please follow us on Instagram at @solsipsnyc and Facebook at Sol Sips to stay connected on all that’s happening here at Sol Sips!

If you already follow us, you may have seen that we were robbed last night on Saturday August 25th. We were closed today to replenish ourselves from this devastation. We lost all of our operating necessities: cash register, our POS iPad system, delivery bike and more. Thankfully no one was hurt. We are accepting donations to help towards replacing these items. However, we will be up and running again tomorrow Monday August 27th. Your contributions are greatly appreciated and thank you for your outpour of love light and support during this time ♥️.

Our work continues as this week is our final stretch from #popuptopermanent!!! There is still a long way to go and we’re sticking on board for this journey through each challenge and reward. We’re asking our community, supporters and friends to donate $20 today for your chance to have a bite or beverage named after you on the menu. We extend gratitude to everyone that has contributed to our vision thus far through monetary donation, sharing our story and or stopping by. Indeed we are grateful. We’ve received outreach from a few media outlets both indie and mainstream and we are excited to have the opportunity to share our story on larger platforms.

We’re optimistic about what’s in store for Sol Sips! In order to secure our home here on Wilson Ave we need to reach $20,000 by March 1, 2018. In addition to our GoFundMe we will be hosting fundraising events in the upcoming weeks, more info on that soon!

Since we’ve set our intention on community engagement and nourishing the So(u)l it has truly been reflected. Check out a few highlights from this past week!
