Tuba Concerto Commission Consortium

Donation protected
Daniel Léo Simpson is a composer living in San Francisco, CA.  I met Daniel through his YouTube channels, where I heard a piece which spoke to me, though it wasn't for tuba.  After granting his permission to adapt for tuba,  Daniel continued to answer my questions and comments about his music.  Hearing his Concerto for Horn, and Concerto for Flute, I somewhat jokingly asked where the tuba piece was.
Little did I know that he would go for it!
Unfortunately, I can't afford a commission on my own.  I'm looking for your help to get a major concerto composed for tuba and orchestra, with piano reduction available and possibly,  eventually, an adaptation for wind ensemble.  That is still to be determined.
As a member of this Commission Consortium, your $30 donation will get your name on the score as a part of the commissioning group, and a copy of the engraved solo with piano reduction.
I'm hoping to have the funds in Daniel's control by mid February, 2016.  Composers have to eat, too!
About me, Steve Hoog.  I'm a tuba player in the St Louis area, with a background in solo, chamber, band, and orchestra performance, which naturally led me into playing lots of Dixieland and Polkas.  After some health issues, I plan to have a recording released in late 2016 or early 2017.  The piece which I originally heard of Daniel's will be on that recording.   His music has touched me, and I'd like to share the beauty of Daniel Léo Simpson's music with my tuba playing friends, and our communities and beyond.
The world of Tuba Concerti is growing, but there is still a hole: Accessibility to the non-superhuman players among us.  This will not be an easy work, but it will take chops and musicality.  It will be a concerto of major length, 20 minutes or so.  Please check out Daniel's YouTube channel to hear more of his compositions, and you'll have a bit of an idea of what this piece will be.

The above excerpt is the first 2 minutes of the concerto to give supporters and idea of this amazing, talented and incredibly good-looking Composer.  Admittedly, Daniel asked me to say that.  Begged.  Paid.  Threatened.

But, there's the first two themes of the first movement.  There will be much more to come, and this may not be the final version of the beginning.  It's a fluid process for a while, and nothing is definite until it's on paper and ready to send out.

Thanks so much for joining the Daniel Léo Simpson Tuba Concerto Commissioning Consortium (DLSTCCC).  I'll keep you informed as work on the composition progresses, and as the commission project advances.
