Help me acheive my dream of becoming an actress. I have applied to several colleges and have been given audition appointments for the Unified Auditions in Chicago from February 5th thru the 10th in 2017. It's a necessary and expensive step for me. If you could fund my way, I would be so very greatful. Thank you for your consideration and support. Please read my story below:
Most of my life had been a struggle for survival. I took care of my dad, my mom, and my brother, but not myself… I was always last. My parents struggled with mental illness, homelessness, and substance abuse – leading to the greatest pain in my life – the death of my mother. I was preoccupied with hunger and whose couch I would crash on, as opposed to studying for the next day’s test. Then, four years ago, I met a family who took me in and nurtured me. To be an actor and singer was my strongest desire, however, I could not get through a rehearsal without feeling that I would be revealed as a phony and talentless person. In my first theatre rehearsals, I would break down crying and stating that I could not do the song or line I was asked to perform. I received so much support, although it was hard to trust. I received tremendous encouragement to push beyond my fear and low self-esteem and started performing in musicals at local community theatre companies. I gradually landed bigger roles. I learned to take my adversities and translate to performances with substance and strength on stage as an actor, singer, and dancer. Eventually, performing in musicals and plays helped me become more confident, healthier, and build self-esteem as a performer and a person. On September 11, 2016, I received an Elly Award for Best Supporting Actress by the Sacramento Area Regional Theatre Alliance (SARTA). I was finally first!
