Shave the Beard!

In schools across the United States, classrooms are full of students and empty of books. The Book Love Foundation provides grants to teachers to create classroom libraries for their students.
Each English Language Arts classroom should have 7-10 books for every student who passes through the door. For many of our classrooms, this means 1,000-2,000 books. For many of our teachers, this means choosing between empty pockets or empty shelves.
So how can we help?
Every dollar donated to this campaign will be donated directly to the Book Love Foundation. If we reach $1000 combined between the Save the Beard page and the Shave the Beard page, I will either save or shave my beard (depending on which has more money donated)
at the National Council of Teachers of English Annual Convention.
If we raise enough to fully fund a classroom library ($3,800), I will create some wacky style with my beard and keep it that way for all of the NCTE conference, and then either keep it or shave it at the end of the conference.
Please consider helping out. Every dollar helps. Every few dollars becomes another book that might awaken another child to the joy of reading. Every few dollars can help a teacher change someone's life forever.

Plus it's COLD in Minneapolis in November. You're just going to force me to have my face exposed to the elements? After so long protected? Take your money and go to Save the Beard. Donate it there.
