Help Detroit Musician Scott Morgan
About four years ago, Scott was diagnosed with terminal liver cirrhosis and a stomach tumor that was swiftly and painfully ravaging his body. Against great odds, Scott survived thanks to the excellent medical staff at University of Michigan and St. Joseph Hospitals. Scott spent 2 years in treatment and recovery, and a third year in physical therapy to regain his vocal strength. As a result of being out of work for so long, after a grueling and indefinitely long period of recuperation, Scott faces a heavy load of financial obstacles. Saddled with medical bills, credit card debt, reduced federal assistance, and high rent and heating bills, all of this is making it impossible for Scott to save money, pay back his debts, and provide for himself as a full-time musician. If Scott does not get immediate help, he could face eviction by the end of this summer.
Now, starting over, he needs your help to keep the lights on, record new music, tour, and essentially begin again.
The majority of contributions will secure Scott a place to live and food to eat, and the remaining sum will go towards studio and tour expenses with Scott’s most recent collaborative outfit, Detroit soul group The Sights.
Scott’s music is a gift to the world. Let’s help him continue to make the beautiful music he’s known for. Any contribution will help, thank you and God bless

It's been a while since our last update, first off, thank you for all of your donations and support in 2018, Scott remains in good health because of you and still has his apartment home in Ann Arbor.
We saw many record releases in 2018, starting with Scott Morgan "Rough & Ready" LP released by Rouge Records at the end of 2017, followed by Scott Morgan and The Rationals LP reissue with four previously unreleased bonus tracks. Then just this December, Easy Action records released vinyl singles of "I Need You" and "Respect", as well as reissues of Sonics Rendezvous Band and Powertrane on vinyl.
Would like to thank those who helped publicize the release of these records, especially good friend Doug Podell for inviting the band on Comcast Rock 900 and Ann Delisi of WDET!
Scott is getting by but wishes to see more live performances in 2019, the band played two live shows total last year and despite the amount of record releases the revenue is largely non-existent. Scott has made efforts to get into local low-income housing but was turned away due to long waitlists, he has a roommate to help pay rent and receives food assistance, and he continues to look for work but as a senior citizen without a car the amount of jobs available to him are very limited.
Scott hopes to secure a booking agent and a publicist in the near future to acquire good-paying gigs so he can adequately pay his band and fund future projects. We are grateful for your support through all of these endeavors, please give your support and share this to help make 2019 a better year for Scott and his amazing music! Thank you and God bless
Thank you for your ongoing support as always, and a special thank you to all the friends and fans that have been Scott's biggest musical and healing inspiration.
We'd like to share that Scott & The Sights will be playing at the upcoming Motor City Muscle Car Festival August 17-19, the band will be playing for FREE at the Hart Plaza stage, please join us!
Your help has meant so much to Scott over the years, thank you!
We are happy and grateful as always for your kind words and continued support.
If you live in or near Ann Arbor please join us for a rare opportunity to see Scott & The Sights play locally at the Blind Pig on Saturday May 19 . We will be selling records at the show, Rough & Ready on vinyl and the new The Rationals reissue album on vinyl.
We hope to see you there!
Cannot overstate how much your donations are helping Scott right now, with no affordable housing options, so few gigs, and never ending bills, you all have helped him survive these arduous times. Please share this fundraiser with others and God bless.
A warm thank you to recent friends and backers of this fundraiser, you've tremendously helped Scott with health and living expenses where he has no other way of supporting himself, especially in these last few difficult months.
Thanks to everyone who joined us at the record release party in December and made it a huge success! And to those who have bought the Rough & Ready album, still available on iTunes or on vinyl + mp3 download here:
Since the release party it has been very difficult for Scott to secure commitments to future projects and performances mainly due to the many differing schedules, commitments and ambitions of his creative partners, band members and record label, but he continues to pursue future arrangements.
Without regular gigs Scott continues to look into alternatives to help him generate income, he is selling instruments and looking for work but neither have proven to be financially helpful so far. He is without reliable transportation after his Oldsmobile broke down last month and he was forced to sell it to the junkyard.
These cold months have left him with few options and a critically small amount of time to pay for his apartment through March. Please share this fundraiser with music lovers and friends, and together we can help secure Scott's home so he can stay on track with his music ambitions.
Thank you all! God bless
God Blessed this man to live. His time was not to go home just yet. My late husband, Dave Gilbert ( RIP) a beloved singer from Detroit most known for his work with Ashton , Nugent and The Rockets, died of this same horrible disease. Oh, how I wish he had a team of good Dr.s like Mr. Morgan . I wish he had stayed . I wish he could go into the studio and sing again too It was just his time, it can be anyone's time at any time in life. Struggling with illness is difficult as I have come to personally find out having blood cancer myself. This story is heartfelt. I know when illness strikes and we often reach a turning point to make good and positive change and I am so amazed as my spirit fights to keep the body that houses my soul in check. When we help each other with a kind light heart , in the way of giving with that good love energy the universe recognizes it . God knows our hearts and all about us. I am sincerely happy for Scott Morgan , his family and friends to have him here alive. l will give what I can. Blessings .... D. Gilbert
Well I learned a thing or 10 since I last had the opportunity to not just get, but share. Be that for a cab-ride, it is what I had at hand. And I will not confuse Scott with Fred again, that is for sure. Seems life is there still and we need some exceptions. I also feel like mentioning that I actually listen to the newer stuff as well, and that I was surprised it was ...new. Since of how good it is. What more can I add? Money I guess, and I will as I can - Power & Glory
I hope Fred is ok, I did not know. Maybe I am past the point of no return. Downright Blue. If not, get well. Takes fools to remain sane. Patrik, Sweden
