Help Detroit Musician Scott Morgan
About four years ago, Scott was diagnosed with terminal liver cirrhosis and a stomach tumor that was swiftly and painfully ravaging his body. Against great odds, Scott survived thanks to the excellent medical staff at University of Michigan and St. Joseph Hospitals. Scott spent 2 years in treatment and recovery, and a third year in physical therapy to regain his vocal strength. As a result of being out of work for so long, after a grueling and indefinitely long period of recuperation, Scott faces a heavy load of financial obstacles. Saddled with medical bills, credit card debt, reduced federal assistance, and high rent and heating bills, all of this is making it impossible for Scott to save money, pay back his debts, and provide for himself as a full-time musician. If Scott does not get immediate help, he could face eviction by the end of this summer.
Now, starting over, he needs your help to keep the lights on, record new music, tour, and essentially begin again.
The majority of contributions will secure Scott a place to live and food to eat, and the remaining sum will go towards studio and tour expenses with Scott’s most recent collaborative outfit, Detroit soul group The Sights.
Scott’s music is a gift to the world. Let’s help him continue to make the beautiful music he’s known for. Any contribution will help, thank you and God bless

Cannot overstate how much your donations are helping Scott right now, with no affordable housing options, so few gigs, and never ending bills, you all have helped him survive these arduous times. Please share this fundraiser with others and God bless.
A warm thank you to recent friends and backers of this fundraiser, you've tremendously helped Scott with health and living expenses where he has no other way of supporting himself, especially in these last few difficult months.
Thanks to everyone who joined us at the record release party in December and made it a huge success! And to those who have bought the Rough & Ready album, still available on iTunes or on vinyl + mp3 download here:
Since the release party it has been very difficult for Scott to secure commitments to future projects and performances mainly due to the many differing schedules, commitments and ambitions of his creative partners, band members and record label, but he continues to pursue future arrangements.
Without regular gigs Scott continues to look into alternatives to help him generate income, he is selling instruments and looking for work but neither have proven to be financially helpful so far. He is without reliable transportation after his Oldsmobile broke down last month and he was forced to sell it to the junkyard.
These cold months have left him with few options and a critically small amount of time to pay for his apartment through March. Please share this fundraiser with music lovers and friends, and together we can help secure Scott's home so he can stay on track with his music ambitions.
Thank you all! God bless
Scott and The Sights will be performing songs from their new album Rough & Ready at The Loving Touch on December 1st. Please join us! And if you can't make it to the show but want to show some support, consider buying the album on iTunes or vinyl + digital download from the link below:
Makes a great Christmas gift too!
Thank you all for your amazing support, there were many periods of scary uncertainty and setbacks spanning this project and your encouragement was the only way we could finish this album, we are so thankful.
With the cooperation of Rouge Records, we hope to see a more ambitious promotional event for Rough & Ready in the near future to help garner the attention needed for it's success. Stay tuned.
Scott is critically behind on his bills and expenses, so in an effort to catch up on his payments he has created a music shop online where he is selling a couple pieces of rare music equipment, please visit the shop below or share with a friend:
Any contributions you make at this time will help Scott pay rent and keep his car in usable condition so he can make it through the winter, any amount will help him greatly. Thank you all again, Happy Holidays and we hope to see you at the show!
God Blessed this man to live. His time was not to go home just yet. My late husband, Dave Gilbert ( RIP) a beloved singer from Detroit most known for his work with Ashton , Nugent and The Rockets, died of this same horrible disease. Oh, how I wish he had a team of good Dr.s like Mr. Morgan . I wish he had stayed . I wish he could go into the studio and sing again too It was just his time, it can be anyone's time at any time in life. Struggling with illness is difficult as I have come to personally find out having blood cancer myself. This story is heartfelt. I know when illness strikes and we often reach a turning point to make good and positive change and I am so amazed as my spirit fights to keep the body that houses my soul in check. When we help each other with a kind light heart , in the way of giving with that good love energy the universe recognizes it . God knows our hearts and all about us. I am sincerely happy for Scott Morgan , his family and friends to have him here alive. l will give what I can. Blessings .... D. Gilbert
Well I learned a thing or 10 since I last had the opportunity to not just get, but share. Be that for a cab-ride, it is what I had at hand. And I will not confuse Scott with Fred again, that is for sure. Seems life is there still and we need some exceptions. I also feel like mentioning that I actually listen to the newer stuff as well, and that I was surprised it was ...new. Since of how good it is. What more can I add? Money I guess, and I will as I can - Power & Glory
I hope Fred is ok, I did not know. Maybe I am past the point of no return. Downright Blue. If not, get well. Takes fools to remain sane. Patrik, Sweden
