You can use it for for CosPlay! Or recreate you your own take on classic sci-fi sword duels like Star Wars or create your own intergalactic futuristic story of good versus evil locked in a sci-fi sword battle!
I got the idea many years ago by watching an auto extending/retracting car antanae. My design works differently, but that's what sparked the idea for the mechanics of it!
FINALLY! Ever since Star Wars first introduced the Light Saber back in the 70’s there is now something that comes really close to the energy rod that extends from the handle for the battle at the push of a button, and retracts back into the handle at the push of a button when the battle is won!
This is gonna take role play dueling to a whole new level!!!
The Fling out telescopic rods that have to be pushed back in manually kind of tax the experience. (They don't do that in the movie!)
The glow rod that always stays protruded or the ones that have to be attached and detached also taxes the experience. (That's not how it is in the movies)
Of course these things are fantasy, but if the role player really wants to get into the game, let’s bring the accessories a little closer to home!
And my invention does!
Basically it’s an auto extending auto retracting baton.
But for your Sci-Fi / Fantasy story it could be a Lighting Rod, Laser Razor, Laser Blade, Star Sword, etc.!
For my story, the Flood Chronicles, it’s called a Cinder-Blade!
Manufacturing isn't cheap.!
Creating the molds for material like Polycarbonate is gonna cost. I can't just use any cylinders. These have to be customized with specific attributes to perform their function.
I’m hoping you will be the contributors, because I would really like to keep as much of this product made in America as much as I can. I know that’s a lofty desire now a days but I really hope I can at least play a small part in employing Americans to assemble the parts here.
And of course It will be designed to illuminate and have sound effects, and durable enough to do some role play dueling with!
I’m shooting for $50,000 to get these manufactured.
I’m counting on you! I feel super blessed to be able to share this idea with you!
Blessings to you and yours! Thank you for finding this worth contributing to, and I trust you’ll enjoy how it will enhance your Sci-Fi role play!
All they tell me is that moldings can cost several thousand, and being that there are several moldings involved in my invention, I'd have to assume that the cost of making the moldings would cost several thousand, several times over.
Right now I'm exploring the option of having the components 3D printed. It will cost far less, but It will not be effective for mass production, but It's a start!
It's an on going obstacle after obstacle course. I've been trying to get this made for years.
I don't have the facility to actually make it in a marketable form. I was able to make a working prototype.
I was introduced to a supposedly well respected prop designer in the entertainment industry who ripped me off over a year ago. He said he could build it based on the specs I gave 'em. He asked for the money up front and never produced my product, and never refunded my money. I won't mention his name but the name he goes by sounds like a fire breathing creature that rhymes with wagon.
I took it to another guy who wanted a deposit then took it upon himself to redesign my invention, against my specifications and it didn't work!
He insisted on a geared high torque motor for it at low RPM's. I told him that would not work. In order for this to work effectively it takes a high RPM motor. The effect is in the Speed, not the Torque. He ignored me, wasted my time re-designing my product around a motor I said would not work. This all happened before I started this campaign.
So now my latest obstacle is having a person load my prescribed dimensions in CAD so I can have the components 3D Printed, but now they're telling me that for some reason the application isn't letting them put in the dimensions I gave them. AARRRRRRRGGGGG!!!!!
I attempted to try to build it in CAD myself since I'm somewhat familiar with using 3D programs like Maya, but it's a total relearning process, and I'm already so busy with PJTV and my band 20 lb SLEDGE.
And if the experts are having a problem, I'm sure I would have also!
So I hope I can count on your continued prayers and support that I can bring this invention to fruition!
