My name is Wes "A Whole Show" Sims. I am Mark Coleman's best friend and student of the game.

First UFC Heavyweight Champion Hall of Famer and "The God Father of Ground and Pound" Mark "The Hammer" Coleman's retirement from the sport he loved and gave us so many memories has not been very kind to him as of yet.  Mark had a hip replacement in 2013, and after surgery was named Wrestling Coach for Team Penn on Season 19 The Ultimate Fighter.  After filming and returning home his hip popped out several times and pain began on the other side. He has struggled and lived with the pain for well over a year and became sick a couple weeks ago. He was taken to the hospital where a doctor checked him out. He had to stay for four days on antibiotics. When released, he went to see the hip doctor again and scheduled to have surgery on March 9th, only to discover while open on operating table, he was full of infection and very close to being septic and lucky to have caught this! He is currently hospitalized with a plastic hip until full surgery can be perofrmed in April. Mark currently has no income. His insurance is about to expire, but we are currently looking into disability. I am looking to raise funds to help his cost of living, doctor bills, medication, and make up what he will lose in the next few months in appearances he will miss.  Anything will help nd thank you dearly! God Bless!

The funds raised are going to go to paying hospital bills, procedures, rehab, medicine, and any other medical needs Coleman may require.

Update 11
Mark has been under the care of an Infectious Disease Physician for the last two months and has been treated with an IV antibiotic three times a day per the Physicians orders. The doctor has been evaluating Marks infection levels on a weekly basis thru blood draw labs in hopes to control the massive infection he had in his body with the IV antibiotics. Finally after distributing 126 treatments of IV antibiotics, the Infectious Disease Physician has determined that Mark’s infection has been stabilized enough to give the ok to perform Mark’s next surgery to remove his spacer and put a new hip in. Prior to the operation they opened Mark up and sent a tissue sample to the Lab to ensure the bacteria has indeed stopped growing. The results were successful as the bacteria has stopped growing at this time, so they were able to perform the operation. Going into this Mark was a nervous wreck because of the rush the doctors have had to put on this operation due to Marks insurance ceasing on May 1, 2015. Mark will continue to have these concerns as he undergoes extensive rehab for the next several months. The doctors have reiterated to us that just because the infection has been stabilized does not necessarily mean the infection is gone and will not give him more problems later in the healing process. Unfortunately only time will tell. In the meantime they have determined that it will be necessary for Mark to continue his IV antibiotics when he is released to go home. He will continue to receive the treatment three times a day for an undetermined amount of time. Mark will also continue his home care nurse and home care therapy for the next several months. Mark has been blessed with your prayers, kindness, love, support and donations. They are more than needed at this time to help Mark in this time of need since he is unable to work and will be without medical insurance in just a few days.

Today Mark underwent Hip Surgery. Doctor took out plastic put more hardware, larger ball, and cleaned well. He is still being monitored so infection doesn't come back and has a tough fight ahead. Facing possible back surgery and other hip eventually once this is healed. Thanks to everyone who has shown their support! He loves you all!

You should come to Private Clinics in Finland to have this operation. I just had my bad knee fixed that I dislocated in Muay Thai training and cost me around 3500€ (That is about 4000$) by like on of the best orthopedic surgeons in Finland. This included all the drugs and care. 100,000$ to fix in USA? USA is crazy. I think for about 10-20k $ you can have whole operation done, 5 star hotel for 3+ months (You + family) and physiotherapy sessions in Finland. Just saying, there is more to world than overpriced American healthcare :) Good luck, donating some money! Long live the Legend.

Pretty slimy of Pavia to bump his donation up by $1 to $201 just to get higher on the list than the $200ers and get his name out there! Well done to all the anonymous donors - all the best Mark!
