Sarena was diagnosed on 2/25/15 with Osteosarcoma and immediately began her treatment. Osteosarcoma is a very rare bone cancer which will result in extensive chemotherapy. She has completed 10 weeks of chemotherapy at Medical City Children's Hospital in Dallas. She will be having limb salvage surgery where they remove the tumor from her wrist. The sarcoma specialist will remove a part of her right distal radius and the bone that was affected and will replace it with a cadaver bone. After the surgery she will be recovering for 4-6 weeks. Then will be moving forward to do another 17 weeks of chemotherapy.
If you know Sarena, you know she is a beautiful girl inside and out. She can light up the whole room with her smile and goofy personality. She has one of the biggest and most loving hearts. She has a positive outlook on any situation no matter what it is. But most of all the one word I would use to describe Sarena would be brave. Previously to being diagnosed she was manager at Palm Beach Tan. She was also attending UNT where she was majoring in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology as well as minoring in Psychology. Sarena was also on The Deans List but is currently taking the semester off. When she completes her treatment she will be returning to her normal work and school routine.
Sarena has a wonderful and supportive family that have been there for her every step of her journey. Sarena is the youngest of 4 children in her family. Laila, Daniel, and Sarah. Her Mother Anita Saad, Father Mike Saad and Step-Mother Darlene. Not to mention numerous other family members and friends.
This is where we need your help,
to raise money to help her reach a goal of $10,000. This money will contribute to help her family travel back and fourth from their home in Keller to Dallas on a weekly basis and also go towards any medical bills she will have.
