Samsara - Fire Recovery Fund

Donation protected
My name is Victoria and I am the eldest daughter to Sam and Sara Kimbles.

Yesterday morning my parents barely escaped the Tubbs fire in Santa Rosa with their lives. This fire has burned more than 35,000 acres and has destroyed over 1500 homes. My parent’s beautiful home was one of them.

Because of a just in time warning from their neighbor, they were able to dress, grab their cat, a laptop and cell phones, and jump in their car. Unfortunately, at the entrance to the main road, a tree blocked their way. All the other neighbors had already gotten out. However, after spending three hours trapped in their car certain this was their end, in what can only be seen as a miracle, two first responders arrived to assist them to safety.

Sara and Sam are in the “Golden Years” of their lives. Their home for the last 20+ years has been the center of our family. When we were in their home we always got the feeling of living in a glorious tree house. The decks overlooked grape vines, rolling hills, and massive trees.  My mother is an artist and a writer. She is a retired therapist, who has taught classes, held workshops and been a therapist to the people in Sonoma County all her adult life. Her home was filled with artwork, journals, and treasures from around the world. Her studio has been an inspiration and sanctuary for many budding artists. My father is a well-regarded psychologist and former President of the San Francisco Jungian Institute who has spent his life helping others heal from trauma. Their home contained the collective life’s work for them both. Now it lies amongst the ruins of their once idyllic neighborhood.

I am grateful that my parents are safe, but I can only imagine what they will need to rise up and rebuild at this time in their life. Please consider donating to them to help them in this process at this devastating time.

Your donations will help them secure an interim rental home and furnishings, acquire the technology for Sam to continue his work, and will set them back on a path to normal - whatever that can be at this point.

If you can’t donate, please share, as someone you know may be able to help.
