Are you a printmaker without a press? A ceramicist without a kiln? A painter without space?
Support SSSA as we support you and all artists, from budding to accomplished, in the Fox Valley area.
Side Street Studio Arts (SSSA) is a non-for-profit organization that provides arts educational and creative resources to the Elgin area. The focus of this organization to bring juried and non-juried art exhibitions, seasonal events, dance and music performances, and educational programs to the residents of the diverse community of Elgin and beyond. SSSA is also in a unique position to sponsor ongoing internships for artists and art management.
EXPANDING!
This September we expanded to include an artist workspace - SSSA LAB. Our initial plan is to equip the LAB based on feedback from local artists, for: dark room photography, printmaking, drawing, and painting. We are also opening SSSA SUPPLY - an art store to support our local fine artists.
We want you to be able to come and make art!
We are getting the space ready for you. You'll be able to park close by for free and pick a membership that matches when and how often you want to work.
Targeting no later than March, 2017 the LAB will be open during the day for hourly artist members and 24-hours a day for quarterly and annual members.
In order to open the space, we need an etching press, plate etching and developing equipment, easels, and a ceramic kiln (for fee-based firing). We already have enough donated dark room equipment to get started!
Are you an emerging artist needing support?
SSSA LAB will be supported by accomplished artists from the existing SSSA community serving in mentorship roles. And, SSSA SUPPLY will be adjacent to the LAB, stocking the supplies you'll need to get started.
