Kidsight Spare Pair Program

The New Mexico Lions Operation Kidsight currently provides free vision screening for children ages 3-7 in the state. We also have funding to provide eye exams and glasses for those screened that do not have Medicaid or private insurance. We are also the administrators for the Save Our Children's Sight Fund in New Mexico. That funding is for eye exams and glasses for students ages 8 up to 19 years of age.
We want to add another benefit to our students.
Many school Nurses we work with are thrilled when we provide one of their students with the necessary eye care and glasses but have voiced their concerns about the glasses coming to school with the children everyday so they get the maximum benefit from them.
So we came up with the Spare Pair Program! We are starting this GoFundMe Campaign to provide ANY child in the state with a second pair of glasses that will stay at school and be distributed to the student's every day in school and them collected by the teacher or Nurse at the end of each day. This will ensure that each day the child will benefit from the glasses that have been prescribed.
We are looking to start using the funds raised here as soon as the first monies arrive. We have made an amazing deal with an optical lab to get the most out of our dollars raised to provide these Spare Pairs!
Children are our future and if they can't see well they can't learn! Where would this leave us?
