Please help to save Roy Gutierrez’s home of 53 years.
Roy is a very kind and gentle Christian man faithfully attends Calvery. Roy has served his country and community in many ways over the years.
He served in the Vietnam War in Korea, ‘66-68, with an honorable discharge.
Upon returning home from the war Roy became a Police Officer with the City of Monterey Park.
Roy was in an accident while in the MPPD that left his leg crushed and beyond repair. Roy had to give up his dream of being a Police Officer but still wanted to serve his community in some way.
Roy found an opportunity with the City of Montebello as a bus driver for the Montebello Unified School District. Roy continued to serve his community for the next 27 years making sure our children were delivered to and from school safely.
Roy retired in 2008 and has been living in his home of 53 years.
In 2014 a company by the name of HERO / Renovate America, a supposed government funded program took advantage of Roy and now he is losing his home.
HERO has done this to many of our senior citizens with a promise of quality work with a smart alternative to traditional financing while keeping more money in your pocket.
The reality is they attach astronomical interest charges making it almost impossible to pay on a fixed income, the cost is attached to homeowner’s property taxes causing them to double, their remedy was to sign the house over to them.
Roy is on a fixed income and no way can afford the annual taxes and is now losing his home, soon to be another homeless Vietnam Veteran who deserves to stay in his home after serving us and his community for so many years.
Please find it in your hearts to donate whatever amount you can so we can help Roy save his home.
