Bob Family Dominica School Donation
Donation protected
The Bob Family is thrilled to be heading back to San Juan, Puerto Rico in November to set sail on the Refurbished Celebrity Summit for the 17th Annual Bob Family Cruise. Most importantly we are excited to GIVE back to a community that is in need, which is the Soufriere Primary School AND the Humane Society of Dominica, a small but beautiful island in the Caribbean. On Wednesday, November 9th, we will be in the Port of Roseau, Dominica where we will be visiting a very small school along and will be accompanied by the Humane Society of Dominica. We will spend time with the students and learn about the Humane Society’s educational programs that they have developed and implemented in the island’s school system. We are thrilled to be bringing some much needed school supplies donated by our friends and family. We are still looking for more supplies for the kids until we leave as well as donations that WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE. We all go to the Caribbean and enjoy their beautiful islands, but how many of us are provided with the opportunity to give directly back in a way where you can see a difference. We want to be your avenue to make that difference.
In the Dominca few people have fenced yards, even the better cared for family dogs are free to go about as they please. Spaying and neutering pets was never something they did on this island as it was not part of the culture but that is changing and will continue to change with your help. These dogs contribute to the unsterilized stray population who have litters in bushes, under the pillars of houses or discarded vehicles. Some of the puppies survive, but many die because the conditions are simply too harsh, too hot with very little drinking water.
It’s in this local context that the Humane Society of Dominica was founded in 2002, with the long term goal of bringing about a change in how animals are perceived and treated on the island. Not building a shelter was a conscious decision that the Humane Society took from the very beginning, choosing instead to work first at building a community of caring individuals who would then be more likely to embrace the concepts of adoption, spaying/neutering to control stray pet population and other animal welfare issues. This program is now paying off 16 years after it was first started.
The Bob Family Travel Team could not be more happy to support such an amazing campaign. Every dollar will help impact a child's life in the small school in Soufriere and also save many animals on the island and help these animals become family pets like we have back here in Canada. We will be documenting the whole campaign the day of our visit with updates and pictures to share on Facebook.
We can't do it alone, and we invite you to help be a part of this amazing journey. Every dollar counts...whether it is 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 or whatever you can afford...we appreciate it. If you feel better just writing a cheque please email us at [email redacted] and we can work with you on that as well.
WE THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR DONATIONS! Help spread the word with family and friends.
Sincerely,
Sharon Loppie – Charity Campaign Director along with Pat Probert, Mary de Almeida and Caley Williamson your hosts for this week long trip - Bob Family Travel Team at Travelonly Inc.
